Come, taste several vintages of Old Vines, Petite Sirah and meet the
new staff at David Fulton Winery on Fridays, Saturdays or Mondays.
(Other days with appointment: 707-967-0719)
David Fulton Winery is a very small, family-owned winery
producing Petite Sirah from their historic, St. Helena estate vineyards
planted in 1860. Founder David Fulton also built the town’s first stone
wine cellar next to it just one year later in 1861. This dry farmed
stand is the oldest known, continuously family owned and operated
vineyard in the state.
Currently, the vineyards and winery are owned by David Fulton’s
great-grandson, Fulton Mather and his wife, Dink. The David Fulton
family of friends still pick and sort the grapes by hand before fermentation
and age the wine for three years in thin-staved French oak
barrels in the same location as the first cellar had been dug. The
resulting wine is highly acclaimed among their peers and a favorite
referral among Petite Sirah fans. Total production is less than 350
cases!
Happy to pour the wine for you is Richard Mather, fifth generation
Fulton family and Stephanie Trotter Zacharia, the new Director of
Winemaking and Sales. Stephanie comes to David Fulton Winery after
a ten-year engagement at Casa Nuestra Winery, also in St Helena. “The
Petite Sirah being produced at David Fulton is the best I’ve ever had.
Richard and I are looking forward to the opportunity to pour it for
folks right here inside the winery. We bet they’ll agree!” says, Stephanie
Trotter Zacharia. “Currently we’re offering tastes of 2006 Our Sweet
Petite (our port-style wine, less than 40 cases produced) and 2006
Heritage 1860 (our Bordeaux blend, less than 22 cases produced)
along with a couple of vintages of our signature Old Vines, Petite
Sirah.“
David Fulton Winery & Vineyards is located at 825 Fulton Lane,
