Barrel Tasting <strong>Week</strong>end at Livermore Valley <strong>Wine</strong>ries<br />

Third Annual Barrel Tasting <strong>Week</strong>end March 19-20<br />
More than 30 Livermore Valley wineries will offer samples of<br />
wines still in development – direct from their barrels – during the<br />
region’s third annual Barrel Tasting <strong>Week</strong>end. Guests with special<br />
event wristbands and official tasting glasses will receive at least one<br />
barrel sample at each participating winery. Many winemakers will be<br />
present to personally pour and discuss their young wines and offer<br />
delicious pairings with gourmet appetizers, artisan cheeses, chocolate<br />
and nuts.<br />
Barrel tasting provides wine enthusiasts of all experience levels<br />
with a fun “snapshot” of how wine evolves—from grape to glass.<br />
Guests will have the opportunity to pre-purchase some of the barrel<br />
wines at a discount, before they are bottled and released to the public<br />
(a practice known as buying “futures”). More than a dozen different<br />
varietals, including the rare Primitivo and Alicante Bouschet and<br />
ever-popular Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, will be offered<br />
for tasting across the region.<br />
Barrel Tasting <strong>Week</strong>end takes place Saturday, March 19 and<br />
Sunday, March 20, from noon to 4:30 p.m. each day at more than 30<br />
participating Livermore Valley wineries located in the East Bay Area<br />
of Northern California (less than one hour from San Francisco)<br />
Cost for the event is $30 per person when purchased online at<br />
www.LVwine.org by March 18. $35 per person at any participating<br />
winery during the event. Price includes a take home glass with the<br />
Livermore Valley <strong>Wine</strong> <strong>Country</strong> Logo, two days of barrel tasting at<br />
each participating winery on Saturday and Sunday, special activities<br />
and wine discounts, and a Barrel Tasting <strong>Week</strong>end map which<br />
includes all wineries that are participating in the Barrel Tasting<br />
weekend.<br />
