2006 Key plans and objectives
With a growing business and international spread of operations across
22 countries, there are always areas where further improvement is required.
We addressed these in our annual EHS and CSR plans and objectives. How we
performed against our 2006 targets is outlined below. We are committed to
continuous improvement in all our standards and practices and our 2007 key
plans and objectives are set out on page 40.
Ensure that there are no significant
environmental incidents during the year.
Maintain LTIFR for the end of 2006
below 1.00 (2005 was 0.82).
Complete ISO 14001 certification
for Tullow Oil plc.
Identify and sponsor a larger number
of community-based environmental and
social projects.

The CSR Committee terms of reference are finalised and the 2007
budget agreed.
Prepare and implement a required minimum
standard for ESIA throughout the Group,

Engage in proactive dialogue and meetings
with key target groups regarding our
first CSR Report and incorporate the
feedback received.
Review and plan a path to external
verification of the CSR Report, including
assessment against the Global Reporting
Initiative (GRI) principles.
Updating and strengthening EHS input
in tendering processes to support ethical
values in all of the Group’s business dealings.
Extend EHS/CSR training opportunities and
options for senior personnel.
Fully prepared crisis management plan,
team and facilities in the event of a major
incident at any Tullow facility.

ESIA template being implemented across the Group, following inputs
from country and business unit managers and in-country testing in
Madagascar and Ghana in 2006.

External verification is challenging given the size of Tullow operations and developing
verification standards. We made progress during the year in how to achieve external
verification and what internal steps are required. The revised GRI3 guidelines will be
introduced later this year and we will review these also as part of the process.

A review of EHS in the contract procurement is expected to be completed and
implemented in 2007.
