Industry links
We maintain a large number of industry
links and memberships including OGP and
UKOOA. Both organisations provide access
to industry-wide best practice findings,
benchmarking information and
discussion forums.
Tullow participates in the OGP data collection
programme which annually publishes ‘E&P
Industry Safety Performance Indicator Data’.
The key programme areas cover safety,
environment and aviation and the objectives
of the programme are:
• To assist the industry to identify areas
of concern;
• To demonstrate to the industry and key
stakeholders that E&P companies are
managing related issues responsibly; and
• To allow individual companies to
benchmark their performance.
In 2006, 39 organisations across the industry
submitted information, representing over
2,500 million work hours in operations in
81 countries.
We also support the principles of Extractive
Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI),
which is a UK Government-sponsored
initiative in the area of International
Development. EITI supports improved
governance in resource-rich countries
through promoting transparent reporting
of company payments and government
revenues from oil, gas, and mining.
Sustainability ratings
We continuously strive to be open and
transparent in the way we communicate
about our activities. In 2006, we took part
in the FTSE4Good and EIRIS questionnaire
and we contributed to the Carbon Disclosure
Project. We also began working with
Business in the Community (BitC), which
comprises over 700 of the UK’s top
companies ‘who are committed to
improving their positive impact on society’.
We participated in the BitC Environment
Index, for which we received a ‘Bronze
Award’, and we entered, on request, a
project in the International Climate Change
Category of the BitC Awards for Excellence,
for which we received a ‘Big Tick’ award.
Tullow also worked with RoSPA during the
year and provided four-year data on the
Group’s occupational health and safety
performance, and our strong track record
in this area was recognised with a ‘Gold
Award’. We also publish information on
ICSA’s Corporate Responsibility Exchange,
formerly owned by the London Stock
Exchange. We treat these interactions
as a two-way process and incorporate
feedback into our policies, practices and
disclosure so that we can make this form
of reporting more valuable.
Shareholders
Tullow has a very active domestic and
international Investor Relations (IR)
programme. In 2006, management conducted
over 250 meeting with investors, analysts
and financial media. The Group hosted an
Exploration Capital Markets Day for analysts
and presented at a wide range of industry and
investor conferences. In all investor relations
activity took place in 20 cities in 11 countries.
In 2006, Tullow investor relations efforts were
recognised through being nominated as one
of four companies for Best IR Website and
Best IR for a FTSE250 company. The Group
also won the Irish Best IR Award for a
Resource Company.
