Another quiet weekend in
Idyllwild and at ARF, with no adoptions,
but we had fun with our full
house of kitties and pooches. Toby
is our newest ARF foster, a petite, 1-
year-old Chihuahua with a gorgeous
platinum coat who can jump in your
arms given the opportunity and curl up for long
lap naps. Sparky and Corky are young, jet-black
Poms who light up a room
with their happy antics, play
well with fellow canines and
kitties, and love warm laps to
lie in. Big girls Heidi and Mia
(right) enjoyed the sunshine
and the little guys on Saturday.
Heidi is full-figured at about
70 pounds and a mellow gal,
with a tri-colored, long-haired
coat and gentle disposition.
We think Mia is her sister,
who sports a short coat and a
curly tail and weighs in at about 50 pounds. Kitty
Wu, a darling Chihuahua-mix, is pending adoption,
so keep your fingers crossed for her.
Fabulous felines: We didn’t separate the kitties
from the little pooches we had at ARF House
this weekend and it made for lots of fun. None
were intimidated, and there were kitties draped
everywhere enjoying the activities. Handsome,
marmalade brothers Tom and Jerry, tuxedo bros
Onyx and Cinders, brothers Tiger and Leo, and
the lovely Sheena are all growing, socializing and
just hanging out waiting for families to take them
to a real home. Onyx has made some real progress
and has come out of hiding while Cinders
has become most affectionate and social. Tiger, a
white-socked, colorful tabby, is most engaging and
waits by the door to dash outside while his equally
social brother Leo is one of the most dramatically
decorated kitties we have ever seen with spectacular
black, cream and khaki swirls.
ARF House will sure be grateful for weekend
pooch-walkers, kitty socializers, fosters and more
volunteers.
ARF (Animal Rescue Friends of Idyllwild) is open
weekends from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and by appointment,
and is located half a block off North Circle
Drive at Cedar Street; mailing address is P.O. Box

The fishing report

of Fish and Game
(DFG) news on stream
and lake stocking in the
San Jacinto Mountains
and other miscellaneous
information relating to
fishing.
L a ke He m e t a n d
Strawberry Creek in the
San Jacinto Mountains
were to be stocked the
week of March 23 with
catchable-sized trout.
Lake Hemet
Jackie Wagner at Lake
Hemet gave this report of
last week’s fishing at the
lake.
Luanne Pipitone of
Lake Hemet caught a 3-
pound catfish on Wednesday,
March 18. She was
shorefishing near the
marina.
Last Saturday, Eric
Carlson and his party
caught eight trout. Several
of them were 1-pounders.
Also on Saturday, the
McKay party brought in
three nice-sized trout.
Water level at the dam
is 125.1 feet. Last year’s
level was 128 feet.
