1/5/2012 Introduction • There is a pervasive popular view that developing countries are undergoing rapid rates of urbanization, but compared to many Asian Countries, Sri Lanka has relatively slow urbanization pattern. • Due to prevailing urbanization pattern, there has been a movement of population from rural to urban areas, for employment opportunities and better facilities. • Natural increase of population with migration increase the urban population in the urban areas where land scarcity is too high. • Due to the change of urban scenario the foremost thing is the “Housing Demand”. • Adequate housing facility becomes on essential pre-requisite in every human settlement • House means not only a structure. It should embarrass with other all amenities and facilities. 2
