JUNIOR PRESIDENT’S REPORT
It gives me great pleasure to submit the junior 09/10 Season report.
WOW! What can I say The club has had an amazing season, not only on the field but off the field. It all started
with the clubhouse receiving a much needed makeover. All hands were on deck for the clear out of the
“goodies” that had been left in storage for many years. It was pleasing to have both junior and senior volunteers
helping out. The club was the recipients of the Bunnings Community Service Programme. Bunnings Carseldine
(Narelle and Gerri) and Rothwell (Jenny and Brett) combined forces with other Bunning’s employees and went
to work. Bathrooms were demolished and rebuilt, fittings plumbed in and I did not realize we had so many great
painters in the club. Thanks to Sam Coleman for building the Umpires Room. Bunnings also painted the
Penguin on the door. The club purchased new tables and chairs to add to the facelift. Once the refurbishment
was all but finished, we held a club get together organised by the committee. Thanks go to everyone who
contributed to giving the club a fresh new look.
This season’s sign on day was very successful and saw the juniors grow in team numbers once again. We had 13
full season teams (U9-U16) and 2 half season teams (U14 & U16).
The introduction of Long Sleeved Gators playing shirts was a welcome addition to game days in the hot sun on
Saturday mornings.
Six of the teams competed for premiership points, with U15 Stackpoole (Coach Ken Brotherston) winning the
BNJCA competition. Our U16 Beattie team were undefeated in the half season, but narrowly missed the BNJCA
Award. Congratulations to all players, coaches and supporters.
Once again we were well represented in the BNJCA representative teams. I would like to congratulate all
players selected for this honour. Championship and Development games were held in December and January at
various locations.
Congratulations to the following : Hamish Thompson, Scott Gale, Ryan Dowse selected in the Championship
teams and Nathan Earley, Casey Donohue, Jayesh Narain, Josh Fourez and Stuart Hutton selected in the
Development teams.
It was wonderful to have new members to the club supporting in the roles of coaches, managers and scorers for
the season. Don’t be afraid to come forward next season, as we are always looking for help.
I would like to thank the following junior committee members for their continued support and enthusiasm
throughout the season - David Dellit (Secretary, U13-U16 Registrar & Club BNJCA Delegate) for his minutes at
our meetings, representing the club at BNCJA meetings, and for his great organizational skills and support
shown to the new teams in our club. Scott Estreich (U9-U12 Registrar) for being organized at sign on day and
