JUNIOR COACHING DIRECTOR
A new Committee position of Junior Coaching Director was tabled at the Sandgate Redcliffe Junior Cricket
AGM. I was nominated for the position and accepted the nomination.
The 2009/10 season was another memorable season for the Junior Gators. A close inspection of each of the
team’s reports highlights the excellent standard of cricket our junior players displayed throughout the season.
All junior teams had coaches and managers appointed before the official start of the season. Teams were
provided with kit bags containing new and older gear that was still in good condition, training balls and first aid
kits.
A number of training aids were purchased and distributed to coaches for use during training and during
competition games. Coaches were encouraged to borrow training equipment and at various times throughout
the season swap equipment with other teams.
Various coaching sessions were held throughout the season. Below is a list of Junior coaching activities
conducted this season:
• Club coaches - Under 9 orientation afternoon;
• Australian Cricket – Milo In2Cricket;
• High Performance Coaching - batting session;
• Queensland Cricket Development Officers - bowling session;
• ACB Fielding Coach Mike Young – fielding;
• High Performance Coaching – Individual team training sessions; and
• High Performance Coaching - Trevor Hohns Cricket Camp.
Recommendations for season 2010/11 include securing dates for coaching sessions before junior sign on. These
sessions can then be advertised to all players as they begin the new season.
