Quinn Storrie is a natural athlete with a great attitude, listens and absorbs the advice from his coaches and it was
no surprise to see Quinn awarded with our leading player.
Jack Colbert improved immensely with his batting this season and was awarded the batting trophy; he even
managed a hat trick with his bowling.
Special mention goes to Oliver Wall who plays the game at 110% and has a big ‘ticker”. His efforts with bat,
ball and in the field have not gone unnoticed.
Sam Di Francesco has natural ability spinning the ball which must be developed, on occasions he turned the ball
sharply.
David Fitzpatrick has ‘real’ ability with the bat, the superb knock against Toombul where he ‘parked ‘several
deliveries in the sheds was great to watch.
Luke Twomey is the character of the side, always has a smile and has been a wonderful addition to our side and
made several contributions with bat and ball. The Buglar side is a pleasure to coach which is a credit to all the
mums and dads that support us throughout the season.
My sincere thanks go to Tricia Fitzpatrick for managing the side in 2009/10. I hope you’re up for it next season.
Thanks to Andy Colbert and Ross Di Francesco for assistance at training and on game days.
UNDER 11 LIHOU
This year’s team started with 6 players backing up from last season’s highly successful U10 side. A number of
new players joined the club including several who were making their cricketing debuts. The team came together
well, playing and training with high spirits.
Highlights for training and development during the season included the Mick Young visit (which most of the
boy’s attended) and the summer clinics which benefited many of the new boys. With hard work, enthusiasm
and some high jinks at training, all of the boy’s basic skills developed well during the season.
Significant improvement was evident in the match day performances of all our players as a result. This was
especially so for new signings Fiachra Sides, Zac Searle, Jackson Crawford and James Moeliker.
Particularly pleasing to see as the season progressed was the
• ability to occupy the crease (even at times when runs might be hard to get)
• number of not outs increasing
• the number of wides and no balls bowled decreasing considerably
It will be no surprise to see the boys reap the rewards in terms of match day performances in next season.
Lihou won 2 of its 7 completed matches (1 was washed out and one drawn). The first round outright defeat at
the hands of our own Sandgate Redcliffe under 11 Kent Team was the team’s heaviest (and only outright) loss
for the season. From there, performances were more consistent.
Aiden McDade joined the team late in the season and turned in some handy performances with both bat and ball
Coach Greg Paul and Manager Paul Matthews would like to offer a big thank you to all of the parents who have
helped on game day and at training. Special thanks go to Ben Searle, Andy Sides and Barry Moore who have
regularly helped with the scoring.
We hope all of the boys have thoroughly enjoyed their cricket this season and we truly look forward to seeing
them all back and raring to go in 2010/11.
UNDER 11 KENT
This was a new team to our club with only 4 players and who had played for the club previously and 9 new
players. Under 11 Kent was an easy team to coach due to the way they became friends so quickly and really
enjoyed each other’s success on the field. We had no real stand out performers this year with all players
contributing at some stage during the season with the bat or ball also with some outstanding catching and
fielding which I know impressed all of our parents and some of the other team’s coaches. A special mention to
the parents who helped score, help out in the canteen and most of all helped install the clubs standards both on
and off the field to the players. A thank you to Tracey and David who made my job easier with their
understanding and organization in running the junior section of our club and our grounds man John-Paul who
provides us each week with the best junior grounds in Brisbane. I look forward to seeing all of you back next
season for more fun and excitement.
