Thanks to assistant coach Robert Wyse and manager Michael Thomas for their help. Also, thank you to
the parents who contributed by scoring, umpiring and their support. Also, to Tracey and David with their
guidance early on, as we had no idea at the start, and it was reassuring to have that support.
I enjoyed the smiles and the special moments every Saturday from the boys, particularly the last game when
Tom Mabin cracked a square cut that raced to the boundary off Pine River’s quickest bowler, really made the
coach (dad) feel proud. Well done TEAM!
UNDER 9 BARSBY
2009 started off much the same as 2008. A lot of good individual cricket but not working as a team, however by
week 3 this started to come together and we became more than competitive for the rest of the season.
Once again there was a massive improvement in skill levels in all players. Kane Boulton, Oliver Flaherty and
Jackson Dean all are taking their games to higher levels. James White, Bobby-Lee Hynes, Jack Mansfield and
Ellis Nand showing great all round cricket skills. Week by week Patrick Lahy, Lily Puti and Myles McEwen
improved their cricket skills and became very valuable players. Joseph Pitter only played the last few games of
the season but added a lot to the team with his all round performances.
Once again the parents need to be applauded for the effort they put into the season - all were willing helpers.
Also the team manager Melanie Maskell for the behind the scenes work, scoring and running of Barsby’s
season. Thank you.
UNDER 10 RIMMINGTON
Congratulations to the team for another terrific season. Everyone improved over the season, particularly in their
fielding. This showed in their results with only 2 games lost. However, it was not just their cricket skills – their
behaviour on the field was exemplary and their confidence continued to grow over the year.
Ryan was again the club’s Junior Player of the Year with 577 runs, 15 wickets and an amazing 30 catches.
Pearson, Darcy, Calum and Matthew D regularly kept the crowd entertained with some very big hitting. In
addition, Harry E topped the bowling figures with 30 wickets but closely followed by Jacob, (in his first
season!), who took 27. But everyone put in some great all round performances – Matthew B, Dean, Harry M,
Jordon and Lachlan all gave strong support with each providing some marvellous individual performances.
The team was supported by a great set of parents who genuinely enjoy the games each Saturday and the efforts
the boys put into their cricket. And thanks to Tracey and the club for all the work that went into organising what
turned out to be another great season.
UNDER 10 BUGLAR
The Under 10 side for 2009-10 remained unchanged with the addition of three newcomers in Lachlan Brown,
Luke Twomey and Thomas Clench. All players have improved their skills level as the season progressed.
Our bowling during the summer was a strong point. Often at this level you find players sending down numerous
wides. Sandgate Redcliffe Buglar didn’t have such problems, always striving for ‘top of off stump’’ which is a
tribute to our specialist bowling Coach Mr Alex Hams.
Training was always well attended and plenty of fun. Fielding and especially the catching aspect of this great
game was our focus. This resulted in some great ‘grabs’ being taken during the season. We won’t forget a
‘ripper’ taken by Joshua Seaton at mid off or Lachie Brown’s running catch at Point. Dane Hoffmann was
clearly our safest pair of hands in the field. From a personal ‘Keepers “point of view it was very pleasing to see
Angus Evans behind the stumps, lovely soft hands and good anticipation, well done Angus...always good to see
a left hand bat and keeper.
