The success of our Club is attributed to all who are members however a few should receive special mention: Mrs Tracey Hoffmann our Junior President for her tireless work in the day to day running of the Junior Club and her continual positive promotion of our Club to the wider community. Tracey is the absolute backbone of our Junior Club. The Junior Committee made up of Tracey, David Dellit and Scott Estreich; Adam Mabb and his fellow coaching staff from High Performance Cricket; and All team officials for all our junior teams. Well done to all involved for making our past season an enjoyable experience. I’m sure players and club officials look forward to the coming season. MILO IN2CRICKET PROGRAMME This season was a very busy one for our littlest cricketers. Our numbers have tripled over the last 2 seasons. Once again we had the services and experience of HPC running our sessions with Glen Sinclair at the helm. Glen and his band of helpers were totally organized each Friday afternoon and made the sessions a lot of fun for our junior cricketers. We had around 72 Have a Go participants (5 – 7yrs) and with the introduction of Have a Game for the older players (7 – 9yrs) there were 25 participants. Each Friday afternoon Sue Barsby and volunteers from our parent group would cook a BBQ, which was enjoyed by many families at the end of the session. I am sure the slushies were a big draw card as well. We were invited along to the AB Field to participate in the Fan Day, which saw around 20 of our youngsters on the main field playing a game. Other highlights for our in2Cricket participants for the season included being invited along to the Gabba to play on the field at the All Stars Fan Day, along with Adam Gilchrest and Justin Langer. Another group of our juniors went along to a training day at the Gabba and watched the Aussies train before the first test. Our cricketers were introduced to Mike Hussey and Peter Siddle and had lunch and a tour of the Gabba. To top this off we had six in2Cricketers go along to the Gabba and be part of the National Anthem ceremony at the ODI on the 22 January. They were presented with medallions by the Australian players. This is something that they will remember for a long time. I would like to thank Qld Cricket for inviting our club to be a part of these exciting events and for the organization that is involved. Thanks to our wonderful parents also for bringing the kids along. We appreciate the selfless sacrifice that the Dad’s made to miss a day’s work to go and see an International One Dayer! Another highlight for our club this season was that I was nominated as the in2Cricket coordinator for Queensland. I was overwhelmed when I received the phone call from Cricket Australia to say that I had won for Qld and was flown to Melbourne for the AB Medal night to receive recognition. This would not have been possible without the support and help and guidance from many people. I would like to thank our little in2Cricket stars, the parents, grandparents, who help each Friday, and the SRDCC committee for their guidance and support in many matters cricket, especially Ken Dixon the club secretary. Our in2Cricket programme can only be the great success it has been with the continued support and involvement from our parents and volunteers each season.
