1 Giles Thorley Chief Executive<br />

Giles Thorley, 40, was appointed Chief Executive of <strong>Punch</strong> in January 2003,<br />

having joined <strong>Punch</strong> as Executive Chairman in December 2001. After<br />

qualifying as a Barrister, his early career was at Nomura International <strong>plc</strong>.<br />

He successfully led the IPO of <strong>Punch</strong> in May 2002 <strong>and</strong> has seen the business<br />

through the subsequent acquisitions including Pubmaster in 2003 <strong>and</strong> Spirit<br />

Group in 2006. Giles is also Non-executive Chairman of Tragus Limited,<br />

a Non-executive Director of Tui Travel <strong>plc</strong> <strong>and</strong> a trustee of the Rona Trust.<br />

2 Phil Dutton Finance Director<br />

Phil Dutton, 46, was appointed Finance Director in September <strong>2007</strong> after<br />

previously holding the position of Non-executive Director of <strong>Punch</strong>. Phil was<br />

Finance Director of Matalan <strong>plc</strong> where he had been since 2002. Prior to<br />

this he had worked in various finance <strong>and</strong> IT roles at Asda, joining them<br />

in 1990. Phil is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in<br />

Engl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Wales.<br />

3 Jonathan Paveley Group Commercial Director<br />

Jonathan Paveley, 44, was appointed Commercial Director with effect from<br />

May 2004. He joined the Group from Greene King, where he was Strategy<br />

Director, responsible for strategic development <strong>and</strong> purchasing, during which<br />

time he led a series of acquisitions <strong>and</strong> major internal change programmes.<br />

Prior to Greene King he was a member of the MBO team at the Gaymer<br />

Group <strong>and</strong> an investment banker with County Nat West. He joined the<br />

<strong>Punch</strong> <strong>Taverns</strong> Board in September 2004.<br />

4 Andrew Knight Managing Director – The Spirit Group<br />

Andrew Knight, 40, was appointed to the Executive Board of <strong>Punch</strong> in<br />

January <strong>2007</strong> having served as Managing Director of Spirit Group since<br />

its acquisition by <strong>Punch</strong> in January 2006. Andrew began his career with<br />

Courage Ltd before joining Allied Breweries working within Retail Operations.<br />

Andrew moved from Regional Operations to become a Retail Marketing<br />

Executive for Allied Domecq Retailing. The business was then sold to <strong>Punch</strong><br />

Group <strong>and</strong> Andrew became the Commercial Director of Spirit Group<br />

(formerly <strong>Punch</strong> Retail), seeing Spirit through a number of acquisitions<br />

<strong>and</strong> changes, including the acquisiton of Tom Cobleigh <strong>and</strong> Scottish <strong>and</strong><br />

Newcastle Retail, <strong>and</strong> the sale of Premier Lodge to Whitbread.<br />
