• 75cm row spac<strong>in</strong>g suits all crops. Closer row spac<strong>in</strong>g<br />

enables earlier crop canopy (plants <strong>to</strong>uch<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the rows,<br />

thus shad<strong>in</strong>g out weeds). Draught animals can be used<br />

with 75cm, leav<strong>in</strong>g every third row out, result<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>a<br />

tw<strong>in</strong>-row or hedgerow effect. This leaves space for a<br />

pathway for spray<strong>in</strong>g and pick<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

• 90cm row spac<strong>in</strong>g makes it easier for the use of draught<br />

animals, but it makes it more difficult <strong>to</strong> achieve early<br />

crop canopy. If legumes are grown, it would be better<br />

<strong>to</strong> put a double crop l<strong>in</strong>e 10 or 15cm either side of the<br />

regular 90cm l<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
