Gomez – Spanish Department Because he finished with me He and me were a ´WE´ Now I sit and cry, I have lost a big part” By Kristina Tryapkina, Year 8 Induction Inspired by The Guardian´s children´s Valentine's Day limerick competition, Year 7 and 8 students wrote Valentine´s Day Love Limericks They had good fun playing with rhyming words and creating their own limericks. Some were funny, some were sad and some ended up just plain crazy!!! Here are some examples There once was a strange-looking boy Who loved a girl called Roy!! But the day that they met She didn´t fall in love with him, not yet! Until he inspired her with joy Year 7 Induction, Gabriel Richter There once was a girl and her name was Pearl One day when she whirled, she whirled and whirled And she crashed into a boy When she looked into his eyes she got a surprise And together they twirled and twirled and twirled. Me too!!!” And together they walked under the moon But later she met another good looking boy and that was the end of Roy!! Ms. P. Butler – English Department Last Wednesday, 13 th February, 10 Laude students in years 7 & 8 took part in the first Costa del Sol Interschool Quiz. Our students did a wonderful job and proudly represented Laude. In the individual quiz round, our students did incredibly well: a total of 140 students were entered for this competition and 3 of our students made us particularly proud: Antonio Leon came 8 th , Gabriel Woods (pictured below) came 12 th and Jade There once was a girl with a broken heart Who said “I was dying inside with hurt” Edited by: Mr. C. JANUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH Laude is a single School with a very wide range of educational possibilities, which allow us to satisfy all our student´s educational needs. Marchand – Head of Secondary Last Thursday 14th February, Mrs. Susana Montes (Head of Spanish Studies) and Miss Mailo de Dios (Spanish Second language Teacher), were the guests on the “De Buena Mañana” breakfast show on Manilva TV. They spoke about the Spanish provision at Laude and about the 3 different lines of study available for our students. Spanish as a Second language: for students following the British Curriculum and for whom Spanish as a Second Language is a compulsory subject. Spanish First Language (lengua) and “Conocimiento del medio or Ciencias Sociales”: for students who are following the LOE programme from Year 1 to Year 11, in order to obtain the convalidation of the ESO programme. Students following the ESO & Bachillerato (Spanish A-level) attend classes taught in Spanish, with the exception of the more “practical” subjects such as PE, Edited by: Mr. C.
