Richard Parry to work with
First’s rail bid team
■FirstGroup has appointed
Richard Parry to its rail bid
team. He joins the transport group
from Transport for London, where
he worked for 19 years in a variety
of roles, most recently deputy
managing director of TfL’s London
Underground and Rail divisions.
Vernon Barker, FirstGroup’s
managing director of UK Rail, said:
‘I am delighted to have attracted
someone of Richard’s talent and
calibre to the group. The wealth of
experience that he brings will be
invaluable as we seek to build on
our market leadership position in
rail and progress the opportunities
created by the DfT.’
Interfleet expands infrastructure unit
■Interfleet Technology’s
Infrastructure Services division
has appointed Phil Edwards as a
principal consultant and Iain Court
as head of business development for
infrastructure.
Edwards joins the consultancy
from Halcrow where he was head of
track systems, working on projects
such as the Channel Tunnel Rail
Link. Court was previously director
of heavy rail at the consultancy
Aecom.

Lee takes seven-year
Pitt stop
Sales engineer Lee Pitts has
rejoined Sheffield-based handling
equipment specialist Mechan
after a seven-year break. He had
been working as technical sales
manager at DMR Seals.
Alpha Trains gets new
development director
Jörg Wiedenlübbert has
joined Alpha Trains Group as
development director. Alpha
CEO Shaun Mills described
Wiedenlübbert as ‘one of the
most experienced managers in
the rolling stock management and
leasing sector.’
iNet expands team
The Transport innovation network
(iNet) has named three new
team members. Kate Clement
joins the organisation as a
research analyst, Jane Pearce is
innovation support administrator
and Catherine Allford is an
innovation advisor.
Remember
the RBF
C2C’s Trevor Capps retires after 48 years in the rail industry. Having joined
the railway in 1963 to work at Southend East station he ended his career
working at Fenchurch Street station, after a variety of roles on station
platforms and in ticket offices, as well as a stint as a shunter.
Shooter joins Wabtec
■Former Chiltern chairman
Adrian Shooter, 63, has been
appointed non-executive director
of rolling stock refurbishment
specialists Wabtec Rail Group,
where he will advise on future
growth strategy and new product
development.
Shooter is a Fellow of the
Royal Academy of Engineering,
the Institution of Mechanical
Engineers and of the Chartered
Institute of Transport. He has just
retired as chairman of DB Regio
UK and Chiltern Railways, having
started out as a BR engineering
trainee.
