Hosted by <strong>WGBH</strong>’s Jared Bowen, the half-hour program showcases a blend of profiles, performances and contemporary exhibitions in American art, including highlights from the local art scene. the first show features profiles of Joe Powers, a musician pushing boundaries with his harmonica; fashion icon diane von Furstenberg; and a look inside the world of miniatures created by Gary Kachadourian. Open Studio with Jared Bowen Fri, 2/8, 2/15 & 2/22 at 8:30pm on <strong>WGBH</strong> 2 Matching Wits <strong>WGBH</strong>’s High School Quiz Show, winner of a 2012 national educational telecommunications Association Award, enters its fourth season of fast-paced competition among public high school students. sixteen academic teams—that qualified from a field of 90 public high schools from across massachusetts—will compete in the single-elimination, bracketed tournament that includes eight qualifying matches, quarterfinals, semifinals and a state championship match. Hosted by Billy Costa, the <strong>WGBH</strong> series features questions in subjects including literature, history, science and math, as well as current events and general knowledge. this year, the season will culminate with a Bay state vs. Granite state showdown, when <strong>WGBH</strong>’s High School Quiz Show state champion team meets new Hampshire Public television’s Granite State Challenge winner for the first interstate quiz show playoff. And the learning opportunities don’t stop there: a pilot video production apprenticeship recently launched at <strong>WGBH</strong> gives Boston Public school students and City Year corps members the skills to create short videos that build excitement around the show.
