Paul returns to Surrey to offer inspiration to our teaching.
This day is designed to explore different and alternative
ways in which teachers can enrich the yoga experience for
their students by integrating themes and intentions through
lesson planning.
By the end of the day teachers will have new strategies
and plans to introduce intentions in their course plans or to
develop their work in this area. They will experience a
range of asana sequences working with different themes
as well as developing their own ideas/concepts working
with a pre-determined theme. There will be plenty of
opportunity to discuss and share ideas and experience with
the group.
Handouts available on the day or teachers can email
Paul for notes.
Yoga and the Spine – Awareness, Movement
IST Day (suitable for all)
11 May 2013
Oxted Community
Centre
RH8 9NB
10:00 – 16:00
BWY members £25;
non-members £40
Organiser:
Bill will be focusing on the concept that healthy posture is
not held but is more a free and animated way of inhabiting
our bodies, with a loose and comfortable and therefore
strong spine at its core. Theoretically these ideas will be
built around anatomical explanations that emphasise the
dynamic, fluid and free nature of a healthy spinal posture.
These concepts will be held within a balanced
‘workshop-style’ class, where the practice will be
interwoven with explanations, demonstrations and
opportunities in pairs to explore the teaching possibilities
of each suggestion.
These principles will be explained with reference to
‘Scaravelli-inspired’ yoga, to help place the teachings into
a broader context for those new to the approach, and to
deepen the existing understanding of those more familiar
with it. This day is not just for teachers but for anyone who
enjoys Scaravelli inspired yoga.
