practices led by the desire to move more freely within them
rather than by their external forms.
This workshop will include: helping students to become
more aware of the subtle internal movements of the spine
and diaphragm; encouraging the spine and breathing
mechanism to be freer and noting when it is not;
introducing students to the basic principles of Scaravelli
yoga and for those with existing knowledge to deepen their
understanding further; and an opportunity to experiment
with your own favourite asanas and practices. Please note
there will be some partner work enabling students to get a
different context for poses and to learn, where appropriate,
how to modify or adjust another student in the Scaravelli
What is the astanga yoga of Patanjali What are its
components and what is their relevance to teachers and
students in the modern era Most of us have heard of the
Eight Limbs, but how can they help us – and our teaching
This day will aim to give a clearer understanding of these
important concepts.
We will explore the Eight Limbs to see how these
valuable tools can facilitate positive change when used
appropriately and support us in our teaching and our lives.
The key texts used will be The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
and The Yogarahasya of Nathamuni. There will be plenty
of opportunity for practice as well as some lively and
interesting discussions.
Andy is an experienced KHYF yoga teacher, currently
studying for his post-graduate Therapy Teaching
qualification. His style of teaching allows for fun whilst being
relevant and instructional.
