1. GEOGRAPHICAL DATA<br />
1.1 The AD is situated 19nm WSW of the city<br />
close to the shoreline of the Tyrrhenian<br />
Sea. The surrounding terrain is flat, except<br />
for a few spotheights less than 300ft.<br />
Some OBST, smokestacks up to 400ft<br />
close to the NE. The river Tevere (Tiber)<br />
is floating S of the AD.<br />
1.2 There are several other AD within the area.<br />
1.3 Be aware of the restricted areas, particularly<br />
the Vatican city.<br />
2. WEATHER<br />
2.1 Mediterranean climate with dry warm<br />
summers and mild, rainy winters. Mean<br />
MAX/MNM temperatures +23.3 °/+17.7°C<br />
and +12.7°/+3.8°C in JUL/JAN respectively.<br />
2.2 During the summer season Roma en joys<br />
favourable weather conditions, only broken<br />
by infrequent local thunder storms.<br />
2.3 During the winter there is some frontal<br />
activity with associated low clouds and CB<br />
build-ups. In addition there is possibility of<br />
fog developing in near calm morning hours.<br />
This is because the AD is surrounded by<br />
a partly swampy plain which increases the<br />
risk of radiation fog. However the close<br />
proximity to the sea which remains warm<br />
at night, will cause some mixing of the air<br />
thus lifting the fog/low ST sufficiently to<br />
keep the AD open.<br />
2.4 When W winds prevail at night, <strong>Fiumicino</strong><br />
may be closed due to advection fog, while<br />
Roma/Ciampino probably will stay open.<br />

4. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURE<br />
4.1 Whenever conditions are such that all or<br />
part of the manoeuvring area cannot be<br />
visually monitored from the tower, taxiing<br />
operations shall be carried out according to<br />
the instructions and information provided by<br />
the tower.<br />

may occasionally experience sunbeam<br />
reflected upward.<br />
2. SPEED<br />
On RAD vectors (if not otherwise instructed)<br />
reduce IAS to:<br />
210kt at 12nm from RWY THR.<br />
180kt at 8nm from RWY THR.<br />
160kt at 4nm from RWY THR.<br />
3. NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURE<br />
3.1 - Circling RWY 34L:<br />
If MET condtions allow, fly E of AD<br />
right hand circuit MNM 2000ft.<br />
Start base turn when over the shore so<br />
as to complete MNM 1500ft and APRX<br />
6nm from RWY THR.<br />
- When traffic conditions allow ATC<br />
may authorise ACFT to fly E of AD<br />
right hand circuit (MNM 1000ft)<br />
and to make the turn NW of Ostia<br />
town to avoid overflying.<br />
3.2 Circling RWY 34R and 25:<br />

7. LDG RWY 16C<br />
Exit CD, CE and CH not allowed.<br />
Proceed straight on along TWY D.<br />
8. LDG RWY 34C<br />
RWY must be vacated not further than<br />
intersection CD towards TWY C.<br />
9. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURE<br />
9.1 LDG RWY 16R:<br />
Vacate via TWY AF and LINK 2 to APN.<br />
If unable, use TWY AG or AH and report<br />
reaching IHP A1.<br />
If RVR less than 400m, wait for Marshall.<br />
Report to TWR when sensitive areas are<br />
vacated.<br />
If RVR less than 400m report when<br />
reaching and vacating LINK 2.<br />
9.2 LDG RWY 16L:<br />
Vacate via TWY DG to APN.<br />
If unable, use TWY DH and report when<br />
reaching stop-bar D25 APP North, TWR<br />
instruction must be followed to IHP D2.<br />
If RVR less than 150m, wait for follow-me<br />
vehicle to be escorted to stand.<br />
If unable to vacate on TWY DG or DH<br />
ACFT must vacate RWY on TWY DL,<br />
inform TWR when reachING stop-bar DL<br />
and wait to be authorized to proceed via<br />
TWY D.<br />
Report to TWR when sensitive area are<br />
vacated.<br />
10. TWY RESTRICTION<br />

11. RWY 16L/34R LAND AFTER<br />
PROCEDURE<br />
Land after procedure only AVBL during<br />
daylight hours and when the RWY is dry<br />
and free of any kind of precipitation.<br />
When applying “Land After Procedures”<br />
ATC will give the second ACFT the instruction:<br />
“Land after preceding (ACFT type)<br />
landing on RWY XX”<br />
The responsibility to ensure separation<br />
rests with the pilot of the second ACFT.<br />
12. COMMUNICATION FAILURE<br />
PROCEDURE<br />
Vacate RWY and sensitive area and wait<br />
for follow -me vehicle.<br />
DEPARTURE<br />
1. MULTIPLE LINE-UPS<br />
With the methods described for TKOF<br />
from intermediate TKOF points (Start Point<br />
Intersection TKOF), line-up instructions on<br />
different points of same RWY can be given<br />
to no more than two ACFT according to the<br />
following conditions:<br />
- On RWY 25 only and during daylight<br />
HR.<br />
- Visibility 5km or more.<br />
- Line-up shall take place at<br />
intersections BC or BD and BB or BA.<br />
- Pilot’s read-back shall contain RWY<br />
indication, intermediate TKOF point<br />
indication and departure sequence<br />
number.<br />

5. LOW VISIBILITY PROCEDURE<br />
5.1. TKOF RWY 16L when RVR less than<br />
400m: If RWY used only for TKOF: Taxi via<br />
D1, D, DA. Do not use TWY DB.<br />
If RWY used for MIXED OPS: DEP ACFT<br />
shall taxi via TWY P, IHP P1, B, C and hold<br />
at stop-bar C25 APP South before receiving<br />
further instructions. Do not use TWY DB 5.2<br />
TKOF RWY 25 when RVR less than 400m:<br />
Taxi via TWY P, IHP P1, B, BA.<br />
5.3 CLR given on FREQ to proceed to a<br />
specific IHP is CLR limit.<br />
6. COMMUNICATION FAILURE<br />
PROCEDURE<br />
Continue on assigned taxi route until<br />
reaching clearance limit and wait of<br />
follow-me vehicle.<br />

3. NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURE<br />
Initial climb procedures<br />
Compliance with the procedures below shall<br />
not be required in adverse weather<br />
conditions or for safety reasons.<br />
During the initial climb phase pilots shall<br />
maintain the following parameters:<br />
Up to 1500 ft QFE:<br />
- take-off power;<br />
- take-off flap;<br />
- climb at V2 + 10/20 kt IAS or as limited<br />
by body angle;<br />
At 1500 ft QFE:<br />
- reduce thrust and climb at V2 + 10/20 kt<br />
IAS until reaching 3000 ft QFE;<br />
At 3000 ft QFE:<br />
- Accelerate smoothly to en-route climb<br />
speed with flap retraction.<br />
4. TKOF RWY 16C<br />
ACFT unable to TKOF from A or B<br />
intersection points, can perform back-track<br />
on appropriate bay if RVR is higher or equal<br />
to 1000m.<br />
