(b) Senior employees may refuse to work on a holiday; however, all<br />

jobs must be covered by junior men on the seniority list.<br />

(c) The holiday shall be computed at eight (8) or ten (10) hours of<br />

straight time based on classification in determining the hours in<br />

such week for which the employee is entitled to be compensated at<br />

the overtime rate, except in any week in which the holiday falls on<br />

the employee’s day off.<br />

ARTICLE 55. HEALTH AND WELFARE AND<br />

LIFE INSURANCE<br />

Section 1.<br />

The Employer will contribute to the Health <strong>and</strong> Welfare Fund in<br />

the manner described in the Sections below.<br />

Section 2.<br />

Section 3.<br />

The contributions referred to above shall cover health, welfare <strong>and</strong><br />

life insurance benefits.<br />

Section 4.<br />

(a) The employer shall contribute on the first forty (40) hours<br />

worked for employees in the local area operations. Road drivers<br />

shall be paid on mileage basis, the number of hours of contribution<br />

shall be determined by dividing the employee’s earnings by the current<br />

hourly rate not to exceed forty (40) hours a week.<br />

In the event a local area operation employee breaks his weekly guarantee,<br />

he shall only be paid eight (8) hours per day contributions for<br />

any days worked in that workweek. Any <strong>and</strong> all paid, or mutually<br />

agreed upon time off shall not constitute any employee breaking his<br />

weekly guarantee.<br />

(b) Contributions shall also be made as set forth in Section 2 above<br />
