Temporary Storage 39
Spoilt for choice
“You are literally spoilt
for choice when it
comes to choosing the
most suitable means of
access for a smartspace
temporary building,”
says Anthony Hunt
of Smart Space.
He continues:
“Because of the variety
of uses, there are a
number of access
options we’ve come up
with, to help users get
the most out of their
building.
“For instance, by far
and away the most
popular method is the
roller shutter door
option, which can be
supplied in either manual
or three-phase electric
format. You can
have a roller shutter
door fitted to either the
sides of the building, or
to the gable end of the
building.
“And depending
upon the access width
you need for your building,
you can have the
door up to a maximum
of 7 metres in width,
with a maximum height
of 6 metres high. But if
you don't need the
security of a roller door,
a cost-effective option is
the PVC fork lift truck
curtain, which is ideal if
your site is secure, and
the integrity of goods is
not critical.
“Another useful
application is the
undercover loading bay.
We can supply an openended
building to
enable even the tallest
lorries to drive underneath
for loading and
unloading, to enable
staff to work in the dry,
whatever the weather.”
“Another option,
which is great for moving
large machinery or
other goods in and out,
is to use sliding steel
doors because they
offer the widest opening.
We can provide
temporary structures
with steel doors up to
15 metres wide.
“Finally, if you don’t
need access for fork lifts
or vehicles, you can opt
for either single width
opening or double
opening lockable doors,
in either steel, or
glazed.”
Ideal solution for Ideal Standard
The UK’s top bathroom
manufacturer, Ideal
Standard, recently purchased
another Rubb
building to meet their rapidly
expanding storage
requirements.
The manufacturer, which
has eight plants sited
throughout the UK, required
additional storage space in
2002 when a 12metre x
30metre Rubb THA shelter
was purchased and erected
at the company’s Hull
plant.
Pleased with the product,
price and flexibility of use
that such re-locatable storage
provided, Ideal
Standard ordered an additional
THA shelter late last
year measuring 12metre x
42metre.
Speaking for Ideal
Standard, project manager,
Neil Owen, said: “The flexibility
of storage that the
THA shelter provides
enables Ideal Standard to
better satisfy the needs of
the market, especially
when new trends and new
ranges have to be catered
for.”
