Wells Guthrie & COPAIN WINES
WellS & STacy GuThrie
sAisoNs des ViNs
copain has created four wines, one for each season of the year. they have chosen the varietals
to coincide with the climate and cuisine associated with each. rose is for the spring (les
printemps) when the weather starts to warm and the picnics begin. Viognier is crisp and clean
for the hot summer (l’ete) months to compliment all the barbeques. the cooling days of
Autumn (l’automne) bring all the earthy fall dishes that call for the perfect pinot Noir. Finally,
Winter (l’hiver), with its cold days beckon for hearty fare and a rich warming syrah. All of the
grapes are grown in organically farmed vineyards and are planted with good clonal selections,
expositions and unique soil compositions. these are the building blocks to help them make
wines of distinction and trueness to the varietal.
les printemps Rosé
80% Pinot Noir, 20% Grenache • 2660 cases produced
“This light salmon colored rose is our finest to date and will surely being
appealing to those who like bright refreshing roses. Aromas and flavors of
strawberry, cherry and citrus flowers are crisp clean and lively and beg for
the great foods of spring and summer.” Wells Guthrie
l’ete Viognier
100% Viognier • 1978 cases produced
“This stainless steel fermented Viognier combines candied lemon rind,
subtle white flowers, and dried apricots in a steely mineral nose. Aromatics
carry well to the palate which is clean, crisp and lively with a zesty lemon
curd and chalk finish. This wine is sure to pair well with the clean light
flavors of summer cuisine.” Wells Guthrie
l’hiver syrah
“Gunflint, wet smoke, and briary blackberry aromas exude from the glass.
Earthy nuanced flavors are balanced nicely with rich vibrant blackberry
fruit, pink peppercorn spice and ferrous/iron like flavors. Our most refined,
balanced and approachable offering to date. This should drink well now and
hold well for the next 4-5 years.” Wells Guthrie
l’automne pinot noir
“Sweet black cherry, chalk, and rose petal aromas are accented by vanillin
undertones. Aromas carry well to medium weighted palate, where they are
plush and round, but finish with good, chalky fine-grained tannins and
sound acidity. The wine fleshes out nicely with an hour or two of air. Drinks
well now but should be hitting its stride in 5 years.” Wells Guthrie
