TANGIPAHOA PARISH SCHOOL SYSTEM _____ MARCH <strong>19</strong>, <strong>2013</strong><br />

CURRICULUM COMMITTEE – FEBRUARY <strong>19</strong>, <strong>2013</strong>:<br />

1. The Committee discussed the high school industry based certifications offered to<br />

students, such as: NCCER Welding, Carpentry, Electrician, Veterinary Technician and<br />

Pharmacy Technician.<br />

2. Ms. Theresa Hamilton, Chief Academic Officer, gave an update on the STEM Program.<br />

She stated that the four (4) STEM schools are Amite Elementary, Hammond Junior<br />

High Magnet, Woodland Park Elementary Magnet and Kentwood High School.<br />

FINANCE COMMITTEE – MARCH 12, 2012:<br />

1. The Committee reviewed the Accounts Payable/Check Register dated January<br />

16, <strong>2013</strong> through February 15, <strong>2013</strong> in the amount of $13,886,824.49. There<br />

were no questions.<br />

2. It was moved by Ms. Cohea, seconded by Mr. Duncan, to approve a withdrawal<br />

from the Tobacco Settlement Funds, held by the State Treasury, in an amount<br />

not to exceed $346,867.72 to be used to fund activities authorized by the<br />

<strong>Tangipahoa</strong> <strong>Parish</strong> School Board’s Education Excellence Fund Plan for the<br />

fiscal year 2012-13. Hearing no objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

3. It was moved by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Ms. McDaniel, to approve and<br />

award Bid <strong>2013</strong>-2, Instructional Supplies Catalog, to School Specialty. Hearing<br />

no objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

4. It was moved by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Ms. McDaniel, to approve and<br />

award Bid #<strong>2013</strong>-14, Janitorial Supplies, to lowest price vendors indicated on<br />

bid specs. Hearing no objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

5. It was moved by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Ms. McDaniel, to approve and<br />

renew Bid #2012-15, Janitorial Chemicals, for the same prices from Economical<br />

Janitorial & Paper Supplies, Inc. Hearing no objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

6. It was moved by Ms. McDaniel, seconded by Mr. Duncan, to approve the low<br />

quote for a 2-year grass cutting/ground maintenance contract for the C.M.<br />

Fagan property by DeMarco’s Lawn Service in the amount of $375.00 per<br />

month. Hearing no objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

7. It was moved by Ms. McDaniel, seconded by Mr. Duncan, to approve the low<br />

bid for a 2-year grass cutting contract for the Champ Cooper School Campus by<br />

Lombardo Industries, LLC in the biannual amount of $14,850.00. Hearing no<br />

objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

8. It was moved by Ms. Cohea, seconded by Ms. McDaniel, to approve the low bid<br />

for a 2-year grass cutting contract for the Ponchatoula High School Campus by<br />

Lombardo Industries, LLC in the biannual amount of $36,450.00. Hearing no<br />

objection, the motion was adopted.<br />

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE – MARCH <strong>19</strong>, <strong>2013</strong>:<br />

It was moved by Mr. Anderson, seconded by Ms. Cohea, to approve the items<br />

contained in Agenda Item A. Hearing no objection, the motion was adopted.<br />
