The results have shown that adding transiti<strong>on</strong> metals into the B-Fe system caused<br />

the formati<strong>on</strong> of solid soluti<strong>on</strong> of transiti<strong>on</strong>-metal borides. The distorti<strong>on</strong> of crystal lattice<br />

parameters generated microstrain in the boride phase. The Synchrotr<strong>on</strong> microdiffracti<strong>on</strong><br />

c<strong>on</strong>firmed the presence of about 5-10 micr<strong>on</strong>s of transiti<strong>on</strong>-metal boride phase at the<br />

surface. Moreover, the additi<strong>on</strong>al transiti<strong>on</strong> metal can provide better corrosi<strong>on</strong> and high<br />

temperature oxidati<strong>on</strong> resistance to the B-Fe system, preventing the de<str<strong>on</strong>g>bor<strong>on</strong></str<strong>on</strong>g>izing and<br />

stabilizing the boride phases.
