POST<strong>RETIREMENT</strong> SURVIVOR CONTINUANCE<br />

Postretirement Survivor Continuance means that portion of the Basic<br />

Retirement Income payable as a monthly benefit upon the death of a<br />

Retired Member, as provided by Sections 5.17, 6.16, 7.16, or 8.16.<br />

PRE<strong>RETIREMENT</strong> SURVIVOR INCOME<br />

Preretirement Survivor Income means the monthly payments to the<br />

Eligible Survivor(s) of a deceased Active Member or Disabled Member<br />

as provided by Sections 5.16, 6.15, 7.15, 8.14, or 8.15.<br />

<strong>RETIREMENT</strong> DATE<br />

Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) means the Public<br />

Employees' Retirement System of the State of California.<br />

Refund of Accumulations means the return of Member Contributions, if<br />

any, and interest, as applicable, as provided by Section 4.08.<br />

Regents and The Regents mean The Regents of the University of<br />

California, a public corporation and agency of the State of California and<br />

the constitutional trustee of the public trust known as the University of<br />

California.<br />

Retired Member means a former Active, Inactive, or Disabled Member<br />

who, in accordance with Articles 5, 6, 7, or 8, is receiving Retirement<br />

Income.<br />

Retirement Date means the date Retirement Income commences. Such<br />

date, however, may not be earlier than the day following separation from<br />

University service or the first day of the month in which the application is<br />

September 2004 32
