At the Country <strong>Music</strong> Awards held<br />

October 3, 2000 in Nashville, <strong>Universal</strong><br />

<strong>Music</strong> <strong>Publishing</strong> Group’s Mark D.<br />

Sanders won Song of the Year for “I Hope You Dance” by Lee<br />

Ann Womack. Womack’s recording of the song won CMA<br />

Single of the Year. UMPG was also represented by The Dixie<br />

Chicks’ win of Album of the Year for their smash country CD,<br />

“Fly,” which features the song, “If I Fall You’re Going Down<br />

With Me,” by UMPG songwriter Matraca Berg. UMPG Writer<br />

Stephanie Bentley also received CMA nominations for Song<br />

of the Year, <strong>Music</strong> Video of the Year, and Single of the Year for<br />

her No. 1 song, “Breathe,” recorded by Faith Hill, who won<br />

CMA Female Vocalist of the Year. Other UMPG writers,<br />

including Radney Foster, Rivers Rutherford, Carl Sturken and<br />

Evan Rogers, won BMI and ASCAP Performance awards.<br />

a plaque commemorating his career of 31 No. 1 songs,<br />

and a recent No. 1 hit with Alan Jackson, “It Must Be<br />

<strong>Universal</strong> <strong>Music</strong> <strong>Publishing</strong> Group has acquired the Forerunner <strong>Music</strong> Catalogue,<br />

one of contemporary country music’s classic catalogues. Purchased from Garth<br />

Brooks’ producer, Alan Reynolds, and his partners Jim Rooney, Mark Miller and<br />

Terrell Tye, the Forerunner <strong>Music</strong> Catalogue of nearly 1,500 titles features more<br />

than thirty Top 20 country singles, including twelve No. 1 hits by country music’s<br />

elite superstars Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Brooks & Dunn, Hal Ketchum Kathy<br />

Mattea and Patty Loveless. Songs in the Forerunner <strong>Music</strong> Catalogue have been<br />

recorded by some of country music’s premier artists. These No. 1 hits include:<br />
