although I wanted to get married, I went to Honduras as a full-time<br />

missionary.<br />

I found the man God had for me when I got on the path God had<br />

for me. He was serving in the same ministry. We met in Honduras<br />

and were married there. That was eight years ago. I am still here,<br />

serving the Lord with all my heart alongside the man God sent to me<br />

as I took the steps to obey and trust his path.<br />

A: Obey God’s leading and go.<br />

I determined a few years ago that, since God was leading me<br />

into missions, first, I must obey, and second, as I obeyed he would<br />

bring along someone with the same passion, working in the same<br />

part of the world.<br />

Trust God. If he led you into missions and wants you married,<br />

he will cause your two paths to merge into one. You will have a much<br />

happier marriage than if you stay in your home country and marry<br />

someone who does not share that vision.<br />

My wife and I met overseas and married a year later. <strong>The</strong> biggest<br />

dilemma single missionaries talk about is whether God has directed<br />

them to stay single. When I left for East Asia, I was twenty-five years<br />

old. Many people close to me strongly questioned my decision,<br />

since I was single. But I decided to follow God first and continue<br />

trusting him for a wife.<br />

In light of my experience, I offer the following three pieces of<br />

advice:<br />
