qualities for cross-cultural missionaries. As Isaiah suggests, “Who<br />

among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let<br />

him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of<br />

the Lord and rely on his God (50:10).”<br />

So as you consider becoming a missionary, invite God’s power<br />

to overcome fear of the unknown as he walks you through the<br />

challenges of mission service, challenges such as these:<br />

• Discovering God’s guidance. Whether you’re<br />

already moving forward into missions or you’re<br />

waiting on God for further guidance, you won’t<br />

have complete answers to every question.<br />

Depend not on your own wisdom, but on the<br />

Lord’s power to guide you step by step (Proverbs<br />

3:5–6).<br />

• Finding the right agency and place. Perhaps<br />

you feel overwhelmed by the number of mission<br />

opportunities and organizations, wondering<br />

how you could ever sort through it all. Trust<br />

God to guide you in his time to the agency and<br />

place he has prepared for you.<br />

• Getting the right training. <strong>The</strong>re are many<br />

options for mission training. Get what you need<br />

now, and trust the Lord to teach you more when<br />

you need it.<br />

• Figuring out funding details. Recall the times<br />

God has allowed uncomfortable circumstances<br />

in your life—for your spiritual and personal<br />

growth. Raising prayer and financial support<br />

may be a similarly uncomfortable step God<br />
