Ask a Missionary - Catch The Fire

seek God’s will with a determination to obey.
However, I do have a suggestion. Ask yourself, When I simply
daydream, what do I see myself doing as a missionary? Do you see
yourself caring for children? Then find what missions have special
ministries to children. Do you see yourself in open evangelism and
discipleship? Then look to a country open to the gospel, which
includes many countries in Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Do you see yourself more involved in discreet one-to-one ministry?
Then you’re probably looking at some ministry in a more difficult
country. Do you see yourself more with Africans, Asians, Europeans,
or Middle Eastern peoples? Do you have a particular burden for one
religious group?
As you work to answer several of these questions, some ideas
should come to mind. You may also want to ask other people to help
you evaluate your spiritual gifts to see in what setting these may
seem appropriate.
Finally, get the book Operation World (see “Resources for
Further Study”) and begin reading about the countries of the world.

people groups, and ministries through this book.

A: Consider countries with the greatest need.
Jesus is doing amazing things in an amazingly desperate world.
I encourage you to look overseas, where, any way you put it, the
need is much greater than in the West. Consider these indications
of need (or lack of):
• Nutrition. A homeless person in Los Angeles gets more
calories of quality food per day than the average person in
Calcutta.
