A Thorough Exam
In some ways, joining an agency is like finding a spouse. It’s
not quite “until death do we part,” though it may feel that way
at times. That’s why we take the time before joining to thoroughly
research an agency.
If your home church is part of a denomination, discuss with
church and mission leaders whether your denomination’s mission
department may be a match for you.
If your denominational mission department is not a fit for
you, ask your church leaders for a list of sending agencies they
would recommend that you research.
Whether you look inside your denomination or at a nondenominational
mission agency, ask the penetrating and enlightening
questions given in this section. Then discuss your findings, both
positive and negative, with a leader in your local church.
