As the events of the world tug at my heart, may Shabbat<br />
bring its tired strings to rest. With the radiance of candles,<br />
sweetness of grapes and warmth of challah, I welcome<br />
Shabbat with pure prayers of my heart:<br />
Hopeful its broken pieces find wholeness.<br />
Hopeful its darkest spaces know the power of light.<br />
“May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart<br />
find favor in your Presence, Eternal One…” *<br />
With radiance, with sweetness, with warmth, I welcome<br />
Shabbat with pure prayers of my heart:<br />
Hopeful that from brokenness, I can be a messenger of<br />
wholeness.<br />
Hopeful that from darkness, I can be a source of light.<br />
May I enter Shabbat as a messenger of wholeness and a<br />
source of light.<br />
