How can we derive meaning from sacred text as members of families, as part of
the contemporary Jewish community, and as people engaged in the big issues
of the day? Join Rabbi Weininger as we look at the <strong>Torah</strong> reading through a
mindfulness lens. We'll uncover wisdom that our traditional sources may offer
us. How does the tradition meet us as we live our lives? There will be English
translations of all texts, and all are welcome.

Spirit and Song Shabbat
Come celebrate at our final Spirit and Song service of the
year. This upbeat Saturday morning service will be led <strong>by</strong>
Rabbi Titcher and all the Spirit and Song musicians, Laurie

<strong>Torah</strong>. At the May 18 Havaya we will do this with projects,
s<strong>to</strong>rytelling and treats. We’ll add greenery <strong>to</strong> our homes,
learn why it is important <strong>to</strong> accept guidance and
acknowledge gifts we receive in a responsible manner, and
appreciate the fruits that grow at this time. Inspired <strong>by</strong> Ruth,
we will do activities about finding our community <strong>to</strong>o.

It’s May…a month that celebrates Moms and also holds
an opportunity for everyone <strong>to</strong> attend an extraordinary
event – the Senior Synod Band Concert being presented
on May 21.
At the April 23 meeting and Fashion Show, approval was
given for the 2013-2014 Women’s League Officers and
Board of Direc<strong>to</strong>rs.
Congratulations and best wishes for another successful

and his is Spanish. Shayna also enjoys skiing, snowboarding, basketball, softball and
music. Michael likes swimming, skiing and cooking. As their social justice project,
Shayna and Michael are supporting MAZON: A Jewish Response <strong>to</strong> Hunger. Through
their B’nai Mitzvah training, Shayna has learned “not <strong>to</strong> wait until the last minute <strong>to</strong>
complete your work.” Michael says the training has taught him “that hard work really
pays off.”

STEP (St. Louis Park Emergency

can accomplish anything.”
