paying tens-of-thousands of
dollars along the way. Why did I
do it? Because the Lord asked
me to.
To truly become the light on the
hill, the Lord asked me get into
the auto racing environment. It
takes countless hours during the
week, consumes my weekends
in the summer and to suffer
through extreme heat conditions.
And again, costs me thousands
and thousands of dollars. Why
did I do it? Because the Lord
asked me to.
And then there is the new
book, Prayer at Full Throttle.
It took twenty-fi ve months of
sitting and writing when I could
have been out doing other
things. I am now once again
spending thousands of dollars
on publishing, promotions and
also on promotional travel.
People don’t realize that when I
travel for a television interview,
the television networks pay
only a small portion of the travel
expenses, or nothing at all.
Again, I’m spending thousands
of dollars on a calling that the
Lord has placed on my life.
Most people could never get
themselves to part with their
money to the degree I have
always had to. But I do it, because
without letting go of the money I
couldn’t accomplish what He is
asking of me. Not many people
are willing to make this type of
sacrifi ce.
In additional to these multiple
and massive commitments, I
give tithes, and even money
beyond the tithe, each and every
week. And all of this is in addition
to way I execute my days, which
all begin like this. I begin each
day by saying “Good morning,
God!” I follow that by reading
my Bible, and then I pray, every
single morning. When driving in
my car
I listen to faith
fi lled CDs and
Christian radio (I
refer to my car
as a rolling
Christian
university).
When I’m around
others I am
never ashamed
to mention the
name of the
Lord, and I only
let words of faith
come out of my
mouth.
This is what it
looks like to be
totally sold-out
to the Lord. I am
not alone in this,
and that is why
the Lord asks certain people to
do certain things.
There may be some readers
who feel that it is hard to
swallow the notion that God
would encourage an individual
to pursue such high stakes
challenges in life as race
car driving and jet piloting.
Adrenaline infused aspects
of society and God have not
necessarily been tied together
in society. Can you comment
on this?
First of all, we have to remember
what the world looked like during
the years Jesus walked the earth.
They didn’t have electricity,
televisions, DVD players,
automobiles, motorcycles
or spaceships. There are
environments that exist today
that didn’t exist back then, and
the Lord needs people to be a
“light” in all of them. I am simply
going where He tells me to go,
and doing what He is asking me
to do.
You describe your experience
during prayer at the moment
that your friend Rylee was
involved in a horrible car
crash. Can you tell your
readers about the scriptures
that you used to help you
come to terms with what you
felt during that situation? Do
you feel that God was warning
you of the circumstances that
were taking place so that you
could be called to prayer?
The moment I received the call
about Rylee’s crash it shocked
me so bad I almost drove into
the ditch. In that same moment,
a thousand memories went
through my mind, every one of
them associated with the power
of trusting every single Word
