INTRODUCTION
1 The material and its function
Plastiline is a plasticised PVC sheet specially designed to
be embedded in concrete as a surface protection. Shaped
keys provide a mechanical lock with the body of the
concrete. Welding strips and other accessories of the same
formulation and quality as the sheet are readily available.
The prime function of Plastiline is the protection of
concrete against hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) attack. It is
equally effective against a wide range of acids, alkalis
and aggressive salt solutions.
Plastiline offers complete protection and is suitable for
applications which include sewers, treatment works,
industrial waste lines, storage tanks - in fact, any concrete
structure where aggressive agents are encountered.
Synthetic PVCs of high molar mass have proven
outstanding resistance to aggressive agencies, both in
laboratory tests and under exacting service conditions.
The use of a continuous PVC liner to protect sewers and
sewerage structures is now backed by nearly 40 years of
service experience, with installations in Australia, Saudi
Arabia, Singapore, Malaysia, Bahrain, The United Arab
Emirates, Iraq, Fiji, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Japan,
Indonesia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Pakistan.
2 Plastiline profile types available
Keyed Plastiline: Designed for use in all situations where
mechanical interlock can be achieved - all concrete pipes
and most insitu concrete structures and maintenance holes.
Plain Plastiline: Designed for use in bonding
applications or situations where no keys are required.
