Led by Dr. Mohamed Eldaly and Dr. Lucio Nobile, the medical oncology team provides advanced medical oncology services – chemotherapies – and participates in a number of clinical trials utilizing promising new treatments, including genetically based treatments that target cancer cells based on their unique genetic makeup. Our oncologists are also trained and experienced hematologists, specializing in the care of blood-clotting disorders. Our team of highly qualified and compassionate oncology nurses, counselors and technicians provides personal, warm and reassuring care to each patient and their loved ones, treating you like members of our own family. Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center (209) 664-5030 Staffed by Stanford physicians, and using stateof-the-art radiation technology, Stanford Emanuel Radiation Oncology Center performs some of the most advanced radiation therapy procedures available anywhere. The Center is a joint venture between Emanuel Medical Center and Stanford Medicine. Radiation oncologists Dr. Quoc T. A. Luu and Dr. Gauravjit Singh use a $3 million linear accelerator to direct therapeutic radiation exactly where the patient needs it. Advanced technology like this enables our physicians to perform a variety of cutting-edge procedures, including: • High-dose Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) to eradicate cancer cells in the brain, often in a single session • High-dose Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) to eradicate cancer cells within the body, often in just a few sessions • Partial Breast Irradiation, in which women with early-stage breast cancer receive their entire radiation treatment in a five-day period, instead of the six to seven weeks required by conventional radiation therapy. • High-Dose Rate Brachytherapy, in which common gynecological malignancies such as endometrial and cervical cancer are treated with temporary radioactive implants. 8 HEARTBEAT Ruby E. Bergman Women’s Diagnostic Center (209) 664-5168 The Ruby E. Bergman Women’s Diagnostic Center is one of the most advanced and comprehensive breast-cancer diagnostic facilities on the West Coast. Inside the Center’s beautiful, spa-like setting, you will be cared for by our nurturing staff. Procedures available at the Ruby E. Bergman Women’s Diagnostic Center include: • Digital mammography • Ultrasound core and vacuum-assisted biopsies • Bone density screening • A dedicated breast MRI unit that is specially contoured to a woman’s body (pictured left) • Wire-localization in conjunction with breastconserving surgery • Minimally invasive stereotactic biopsies

Here is a look at what is housed under one roof at the Cancer Center: Oncology Navigator (209) 664-2434 Our Oncology Navigator, Sima Nazi, B.S.N., is an advocate is an advocate for women who are at high risk for, or who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. She will be your navigator, educator and friend. As an oncology health navigator, our speciallytrained oncology nurse: • Helps women diagnosed with breast cancer understand medical and clinical terminology related to their diagnosis • Reinforces information provided by the woman’s Physician Care Team regarding diagnosis and treatment options • Provides resources to get health information organized for women • Assists with the flow of information to health care team members • Works closely with her patient’s Physician Care Team to implement the treatment plan they think is best suited to the patient’s diagnosis and personal preferences. Emanuel Specialty Care— Surgery (209) 664-5071 Surgery is often the first line of treatment with certain malignancies and several outstanding surgeons practice in Turlock, including Dr. Katherine Barton and Dr. Paul Carmichael of Emanuel Specialty Care –Surgery, located in Emanuel Cancer Center. From lumpectomies, to mastectomies to general surgery, these expert surgeons determine the most appropriate approach and treatment that best fits the patient’s healing plan. Support Groups and Classes (209) 664-2434 Emanuel Cancer Center provides services to patients, families and caregivers through all phases of the cancer continuum, including groups and programs on diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Support Groups include: • Journaling and writing groups • General cancer support group • Young adults with cancer support group • Look Good... Feel Better” support groups for women undergoing cancer treatments • Support group for kids age 5 to 13 whose loved one has cancer Genetic Counseling (209) 664-2434 Emanuel’s genetic counselor Anna McGill helps patients understand their genetic risks for certain cancers and explore the various proactive and preventive measures they and their families can consider to lower their risk.
