Calliope brings together New Trier’s various artists and showcases their works. If you are interested in the arts, this is the place for you! Our focus is the publication of a full-color book of student art and writing with a CD of alternative sound. Calliope varies depending on the students involved. As one member said “Calliope is a community… a family!” Recent events have included standing-room-only concerts and art shows. Your contributions will help make it the kind of club you would like it to be! CanCeR PReVenTIon (CPC) Founded 2002 Mr. Marc Tadelman WINNETKA Join this club to plan the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of New Trier Township and to promote cancer prevention and fundraising at the school. Get involved with school awareness events, such as Pink Day (breast cancer awareness), the Great American Smokeout, and Purple Week. Join this group to make a difference and help prevent cancer. o r g A n i z At i o n S A n d c l u b S CaRD GaMe Founded 1981 Ms. Wendy Parks WINNETKA New Trier HEARTS Card Game CLUB! Kids come out in SPADES to join this group of DIAMONDS to play dice and card games ranging from Solitaire to War to Bridge and more. Card Game Club meets weekly after school so that members can socialize, snack, listen to music, play games and have a great time. Members may also choose to play cards for fun or competition with students from other schools. Card Game Club: Just roll the dice and come to shuffle, cut and deal! CeReal Founded 2005 Mr. Darrin Jeziorski WINNETKA Join this crew of cereal lovers for a pre-advisery breakfast food fest of (you guessed it) cereal and milk! What started as a purely social gathering has also become a fundraising group. Join them for food, fun, and fundraising! CHeeRleaDInG Ms. Adena Horwitz WINNETKA The primary purpose of Cheerleading is to lead the crowd in cheers at athletic events to promote school spirit, provide entertainment at sporting events, and support athletics at New Trier High School. Cheerleaders serve as representatives of New Trier High School and work to encourage good sportsmanship throughout the school. Cheerleaders perform along the sidelines and between quarters of varsity home football and basketball games. Cheerleading also works to promote school spirit at New Trier. CHess Founded 1926 TBA WINNETKA New Trier’s Chess Club is really a competitive, interscholastic team that participates in several matches each year, including the Illinois State High School Tournament. Players at many different levels have participated through the years, from beginners to titled Masters. What they all have in common is that they enjoy the games!

The club participates in International Day, enjoys food from various ethnic restaurants, provides Chinese language lessons, and sponsors a Chinese New Year celebration. All are welcome! Here you will learn the ever-growing sport of rock climbing. Knots, belaying, techniques and bouldering are some of what you will learn in your weekly adventures on New Trier’s climbing wall. Club members participate in school-wide events such as Roots of New Trier, International Day and Spring Fest. We also participate in fundraising activities, invite guest speakers and go on excursions. All are welcome! ClUb sanDwICH Founded 2011 Mr. Maurice Bonhomme Mr. Jean Cayemitte NORTHFIELD Do you enjoy spending time in the kitchen? Are you a closet chef? Whether you have cooked for years or want to learn more about how to get around a kitchen, Club Sandwich is for you. The Northfield Campus cooking club meets once a week and whips up everything from full course dinners to tasty pastries. Come on by, cook with and break bread with your friends. You won’t regret it! ColleCTIbles ClUb Founded 2011 Mr. David Hjelmgren NORTHFIELD American Pickers meets Pawn Stars meets Show and Tell - without the buying and selling. Bring an item you’d like to learn more about or some collections you’d like to share. All are welcome! CoMIC booK Founded 2005 TBA WINNETKA Where do heroes come from? How do villains rise to power? Comic Book Club explores these questions and many more as we discuss various story arcs and character origins. Share your favorite comic book, graphic novel, comic movie, web series, or even your own creation. The sky's the limit on what the new Comic Book Club can evolve into. CoMMITTeD To aCTIon (CTa) Founded 1999 Ms. Aileen Geary Ms. Rachel Hess WINNETKA Mr. Tim Estberg NORTHFIELD CTA is a student organization committed to ending homophobia and intolerance at New Trier. CTA is open to all gay, straight, and questioning students who want to work in a socially accepting atmosphere to talk about issues affecting school safety, raise awareness among students and staff, and strategize ways to fight homophobia. If you want to make a difference in our school, get on board with CTA. CoMPUTeR GaMInG Founded 1995 Mr. Greg Kolasinski WINNETKA The club is open to all students; no gaming experience is needed. Enjoy a variety of ultimately competitive, real-time strategy combat games that mix elements of action and team work. Capture enemy bases, score points, and defend your positions. The team with the highest score wins, but above all, everyone has tons of fun. Making friends is the name of the game! CoMPUTeR neTwoRKInG anD PRoGRaMMInG Founded 2010 TBA WINNETKA This club allows students to explore programming iPhone and iPod apps as well as other fundamentals that can be used at home. Some of the apps created by this club have been installed onto the class iPod carts used by our Science department!
