group in search
for nursing chief

THE healthcare commissioners for the
borough are on the look out for an experienced
chief nurse to recruit to its board.
NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning
Group (CCG), made up of commissioners, lay
members, GPs and a secondary care doctor,
has started the recruitment process for a chief
nurse who will advise the board on core
nursing areas such as safeguarding and patient
care.
The board has been supported by Helen
Clarke, a chief nurse from Bolton NHS
Foundation Trust who has provided clinical
insight surrounding quality, safeguarding and
patient safety.
But due to her current work commitments,
Helen is withdrawing her place on the board.
She said: “I’ve sat on the CCG board for 10
months and have learned so much about the
process of commissioning.
“The West Lancashire board is a strong
visionary team and with clinicians sat side by
side commissioners, decisions are made with
the broad consideration that is required.
“I feel confident this vacancy will provide one
of my nursing colleagues with a fantastic
unique opportunity and plan to remain on the
board until this place is filled.”
Dr John Caine, chair at West Lancashire CCG,
added: “Finding the right calibre of candidate
is naturally essential. Healthcare is a complex
area and this nursing role is vital to our board,
allowing us to understand a wider picture
when making decisions.
“We are looking for someone with
exceptional nursing, leadership and
management skills to complement our existing
skills.
“One of our main priorities is to make sure
that patient care is at the forefront of
everything we do and this nursing role is
crucial in our approach to this.
“We wish Helen all the best with her ongoing
career in Bolton and would like to invite any
