Champ Newsdesk 01704 392400 Sefton residents are being encouraged to Go the Extra Mile for their health during the summer by stopping smoking. Throughout July SUPPORT, Sefton’s local and free NHS Stop Smoking Service, is promoting the Go the Extra Mile campaign to raise awareness of the health benefits from quitting cigarettes. “Not only will people have more energy and be able to breathe easier if they stop smoking but they’ll also have extra money at the end of the month,” explains Colette Kearney, Team Leader for the Stop Smoking Service. “By quitting cigarettes, people will be going the extra mile for their family and friends too as secondhand smoke won’t be affecting their health anymore.” Anyone wanting support to stop smoking are invited to come along to any of the team’s start-up sessions in Sefton. The invitation also goes out to those who have tried before as the team recognises it can take several attempts before becoming smokefree. Going the extra mile for your health: • After 20 minutes of quitting cigarettes your circulation improves • After 8 hours oxygen levels in the blood return to normal • After 24 hours your lungs are clearing themselves from the build-up of mucus and debris • After 48 hours your senses of taste and smell start increasing • In 3-9 months coughing and wheezing should be a thing of the past as lung capacity returns Beat The CREDIT CRUNCH Van Hire from * PRICES BASED ON A 7 DAY RENTAL PERIOD 0151 284 1139 5% OFF TOKEN FIND US AT THE NEW STRAND, BOOTLE, L20 1AA ✃ With Our Superb Deals per day Car Hire ✔ ✔ ✔ Small Cars Medium Cars Large Cars 1117963 NORTH SEFTON MONDAY Formby Clinic, Phillips Lane, Formby, L37 4BG.................................... 2.30pm and 5pm TUESDAY Ainsdale Centre for Health and Wellbeing, 164 Sandbrook Road, PR8 3RJ......2.30pm Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing, 44-46 Hoghton Street, PR9 0PQ ........ 6pm WEDNESDAY Churchtown Community Clinic, 137 Cambridge Road, Southport, PR9 7LT .....10.30am THURSDAY Community Service Station, 23-35 Scarisbrick Avenue, PR98 1NW ..................2.30pm Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing, 44-46 Hoghton Street, PR9 0PQ ........ 6pm FRIDAY Churchtown Community Clinic, 137 Cambridge Road, Southport, PR9 7LT .....10.30am Linaker St Children’s Centre, Sefton Street, Southport, PR8 5DB.....................10.30am Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing, 44-46 Hoghton Street, PR9 0PQ ...2.30pm SATURDAY Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing, 44-46 Hoghton Street, PR9 0PQ ......10am Stop smoking service clinics SOUTH SEFTON MONDAY Thornton Clinic, Bretlands Road, Thornton, L23 1TQ .........................................10.30am Prince Street Clinic, Prince Street, Waterloo, L22 5PB ........................................2.30pm The May Logan Centre, 294 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 5DQ .......... 2.30pm and 6pm TUESDAY The May Logan Centre, 294 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 5DQ ........................10.30am Litherland Town Hall, Hatton Hill Road, Litherland, L21 9JN ..............................10.30am Netherton Feelgood Factory, Magdalen Square, L30 5QW .................................2.30pm Prince Street Clinic, Prince Street, Waterloo, L22 5PB ........................................2.30pm Maghull Health Centre, Westway, Maghull, L31 0DJ........................... 2.30pm and 6pm WEDNESDAY Prince Street Clinic, Prince Street, Waterloo, L22 5PB ............................................. 6pm The May Logan Centre, 294 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 5DQ ............................... 6pm THURSDAY Netherton Health Centre, Magdalen Square, L30 5SP ......................................10.30am The May Logan Centre, 294 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 5DQ .......... 2.30pm and 6pm FRIDAY Bootle Health Centre, Park Street, Bootle, L20 3RF ...........................................10.30am Litherland Town Hall, Hatton Hill Road, Litherland, L21 9JN ................................2.30pm The May Logan Centre, 294 Knowsley Road, Bootle, L20 5DQ ..........................2.30pm SATURDAY Litherland Town Hall, Hatton Hill Road, Litherland, L21 9JN ................................2.30pm Call Healthy Sefton on 0300 100 1000 to confirm days and times 1120724
