Marine to host charity
match this weekend

SOME of the country’s top soap stars
will descend on Crosby this weekend
to play a charity football match.
ITV Allstars, made up from
Coronation Street, Hollyoaks,
Emmerdale and Waterloo Road stars,
will take to Marine’s Arriva Stadium to
play members of local charity TEAM.
They will be raising funds for Marine
FC’s ground appeal and for the
fundraising trust TEAM, which stands
for Together Everyone Achieves More
and helps Sefton’s disabled children.
Marine chairman Paul Leary said:
“We are really looking forward to this
Saturday with the appearance of
celebrities from our popular soaps
including Coronation Street,
Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Waterloo
Road.
“I am hoping that the run of current
fine weather will continue until then
and that would be great for everyone
involved in the day.
“The volunteers from TEAM and
Marine are ready to ensure
NINE models of buildings in
Seaforth Village that have been
demolished will go on display this
week.
Adults attending a creative class at
the Adult Education Centre on
Cambridge Road, Seaforth have
created models of the buildings so

arrangements go smoothly and that
the families visiting the Arriva
their memory will be kept alive.
The models will be on display at
the Bowersdale Centre in Crescent
Road, Seaforth, from 2.30pm this
Friday (July 19).
There will also be two murals on
display that have been created by
Our Lady Star of the Sea and
Stadium for possibly the first time will
enjoy the facilities and entertainment.
“This will be a very special day for all
concerned in raising funds for two
very good causes.
“I am absolutely delighted to be able
to share this experience with the
people at TEAM who do so much to
help disadvantaged families in the
area. I do hope that the event will be a
huge success and that TEAM and
Marine can work together again in the
future.”
TEAM chair Kieran Owens said:
“The events on Saturday raises the
profile of our charitable trust TEAM
and will help promote our key
objectives notably the respite holiday
home TEAM Towers.
“I thank Marine Football Club for
allowing us to use the excellent
facilities at the Arriva Stadium and for
giving our Charity an opportunity to
help realise our dreams.”
The match kicks off at 2pm this
Saturday (July 20) and turnstiles will
be open from 12.30pm. Tickets can be
purchased on the day or from the club
and are £5 for adults and £2 for
concessions.
Models of demolished buildings to go on display
Rimrose Hope primary schools.
Organiser Brenda Murray said: “It
is important that we keep the
memory alive of buildings that are
no longer here. We would like as
many people as possible to come
and watch this important
ceremony.”
