This document describes the implementation of the Virtual Private Network (<strong>VPN</strong>)<br />
feature in <strong>Vanguard</strong> <strong>Networks</strong>’ <strong>Vanguard</strong> products. <strong>VPN</strong> includes:<br />
• Tunneling<br />
• Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE)<br />
• IPSEC<br />
• Digital Certificates and SCEP<br />
This manual provides a general description of a <strong>VPN</strong>, tunneling, GRE, IPSEC,<br />
Digital Certificates and SCEP and encryption. A detailed description of <strong>Vanguard</strong><br />
<strong>Networks</strong> implementation of a <strong>VPN</strong>, tunneling, GRE, and IPSEC, along with<br />
explanations of how to configure <strong>Vanguard</strong> products to support this feature, are<br />
included.<br />
Data encryption information and supported encryption types are explained in detail<br />
in the Data Encryption manual, (Part Number T0103-09).<br />
Refer to the <strong>VPN</strong> Technical Glossary located in the back of this manual for the<br />
definition of terms specific to the <strong>VPN</strong> feature.<br />
