<strong>Council</strong> and District<br />
F15 The Role <strong>of</strong> <strong>Council</strong> and<br />
District Board Members<br />
Part 1 – It’s different outside <strong>of</strong> the unit! Understand<br />
your new role as a council/district leader in a larger<br />
community. Required <strong>of</strong>ficer positions will be covered.<br />
You are an important link in the <strong>PTA</strong> structure, and<br />
there are resources and tools to help you support your<br />
members. Learn how to be effective!<br />
S62 The Role <strong>of</strong> <strong>Council</strong> and<br />
District Board Members<br />
Part 2 – As a follow-up to Part 1, we’ll review the<br />
highlights <strong>of</strong> Advanced Leadership Tools. Providing<br />
training is your responsibility. It’s easy if you use our<br />
pre-packaged Leadership Development Presentations.<br />
You’ll leave a trained leader equipped to deal with any<br />
number <strong>of</strong> situations.<br />
F58 Finance for <strong>Council</strong>s and Districts<br />
Part 1 – Learn how to support unit financial <strong>of</strong>ficers;<br />
collect and review unit financial documents; remit per<br />
capita and insurance; and review state reports.<br />
S07 Finance for <strong>Council</strong>s and Districts<br />
Part 2 – Continue learning how to support unit<br />
financial <strong>of</strong>ficers, and deal with taxes and abatement<br />
letters. Gain skills to prepare and present trainings,<br />
identify red flags, compile information for taxes, write<br />
abatement letters and resolve problems.<br />

S64 Membership Role for <strong>Council</strong>s and Districts<br />
Learn the essential responsibilities <strong>of</strong> councils and<br />
districts in promoting and supporting successful<br />
membership campaigns. Learn how to market the<br />
value and benefits <strong>of</strong> <strong>PTA</strong>. Learn how to set timelines,<br />
goals and incentives. Learn strategies, resources and<br />
tools for assisting local leaders. Hear about the new<br />
award structure!<br />
S67 Advanced Reflections for<br />
<strong>Council</strong> and District Coordinators<br />
Beyond the basics – this Reflections workshop will<br />
provide participants with a better understanding <strong>of</strong> the<br />
process for submitting Reflections entries to the next<br />
level. Learn more about the documentation required<br />
to submit Reflections on to District or State and get<br />
your questions answered about the finer points <strong>of</strong> the<br />
program.<br />
Diversity and Inclusion<br />
T02 Building Community Unity<br />
Join in a thought-provoking discussion and assessment on creating a rich and<br />
diverse <strong>PTA</strong>. Create true community unity across all cultures. It draws on our own<br />
experiences, stereotypes and perceptions. Its purpose is to help create enriched<br />
understanding and relationships within <strong>PTA</strong> and the larger community.<br />
F59 Improving School Breakfast Programs: A Winning Strategy for All!<br />
Successful school breakfast programs lead to learning, nutritional, health, behavioral<br />
and financial benefits. Yet, most California students don’t eat school breakfasts.<br />
Learn about the statewide BreakfastFirst Campaign, State <strong>PTA</strong>’s role as co-sponsor,<br />
and how parents can help ensure every student starts the school day well-nourished<br />
and ready to learn!<br />
F63 Inspiring Volunteers and Cultivating Parent Involvement<br />
Volunteering is one <strong>of</strong> the most important things you can do for children. Come and<br />
learn effective and innovative strategies for volunteering from representatives <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Riverside County Office <strong>of</strong> Education, and the Twenty-Third District <strong>PTA</strong> Parent<br />
Involvement Team. You will learn how to use the Parents Empowering Parents<br />
manual, and other <strong>PTA</strong> resources to reach out and make a difference in your school<br />
community.<br />
S05 Promising Practices for English Language Learners<br />
This workshop will present data and strategies from school districts on successful<br />
elementary programs for English Language Learners. The presenters will describe<br />
their programs, the research behind the program designs, and their results. New<br />
research and recommendations for serving secondary English learners will also be<br />
shared.<br />
S12 How To Attract Volunteers<br />
Need we say more? What have you missed? Is this a problem for your <strong>PTA</strong>? We’ll<br />
give you some food for thought on how to establish, build and empower your<br />
volunteer network.<br />
S53 Including Everyone in the <strong>PTA</strong><br />
Are you interested in building a more diverse and inclusive <strong>PTA</strong> representative <strong>of</strong> all<br />
the children in your school community? This workshop explores methods you can<br />
use to achieve your aims. You will leave with strategies to increase membership and<br />
diversity within your association’s leadership.<br />
S55 Making Sense: A Parent’s Guide to Middle School Students<br />
A look at the 3 B’s (body, brain and behavior) <strong>of</strong> young adolescents. Learn why they<br />
are all about appearance; why they are so emotional; and why they willingly take<br />
risks. Learn how to better communicate with them, and what research says is the<br />
best way to help them succeed in school.<br />
S65 Making Diversity Everyone’s Business<br />
Gather ideas for building a diverse <strong>PTA</strong> while increasing your <strong>PTA</strong> membership …<br />
beyond the usual suspects! Expand your ideas about who can be members <strong>of</strong> <strong>PTA</strong>.<br />
Learn how <strong>PTA</strong> is relevant for each stakeholder group.<br />
S66 Building Male Leadership in <strong>PTA</strong><br />
Men are needed for <strong>PTA</strong>. Now is the time to move beyond just being a member and<br />
step up into a leadership role. More men are getting involved supporting their<br />
children’s education. This workshop will address, recognize and appreciate<br />
differences in leadership styles, and how to support men as they begin to get<br />
involved in leadership roles.<br />
