We have also included a special track highlighting Diversity and Inclusion workshops. Days and times are listed in the next section.

F15 The Role of Council and
District Board Members
Part 1 – It’s different outside of the unit! Understand
your new role as a council/district leader in a larger
community. Required officer positions will be covered.
You are an important link in the PTA structure, and
there are resources and tools to help you support your
members. Learn how to be effective!
S62 The Role of Council and
District Board Members
Part 2 – As a follow-up to Part 1, we’ll review the
highlights of Advanced Leadership Tools. Providing
training is your responsibility. It’s easy if you use our
pre-packaged Leadership Development Presentations.
You’ll leave a trained leader equipped to deal with any
number of situations.
F58 Finance for Councils and Districts
Part 1 – Learn how to support unit financial officers;
collect and review unit financial documents; remit per
capita and insurance; and review state reports.
S07 Finance for Councils and Districts
Part 2 – Continue learning how to support unit
financial officers, and deal with taxes and abatement
letters. Gain skills to prepare and present trainings,
identify red flags, compile information for taxes, write
abatement letters and resolve problems.

empowered and motivated to plan and achieve your

S64 Membership Role for Councils and Districts
Learn the essential responsibilities of councils and
districts in promoting and supporting successful
membership campaigns. Learn how to market the
value and benefits of PTA. Learn how to set timelines,
goals and incentives. Learn strategies, resources and
tools for assisting local leaders. Hear about the new
award structure!
S67 Advanced Reflections for
Council and District Coordinators
Beyond the basics – this Reflections workshop will
provide participants with a better understanding of the
process for submitting Reflections entries to the next
level. Learn more about the documentation required
to submit Reflections on to District or State and get
your questions answered about the finer points of the
program.
Diversity and Inclusion
T02 Building Community Unity
Join in a thought-provoking discussion and assessment on creating a rich and
diverse PTA. Create true community unity across all cultures. It draws on our own
experiences, stereotypes and perceptions. Its purpose is to help create enriched
understanding and relationships within PTA and the larger community.
F59 Improving School Breakfast Programs: A Winning Strategy for All!
Successful school breakfast programs lead to learning, nutritional, health, behavioral
and financial benefits. Yet, most California students don’t eat school breakfasts.
Learn about the statewide BreakfastFirst Campaign, State PTA’s role as co-sponsor,
and how parents can help ensure every student starts the school day well-nourished
and ready to learn!
F63 Inspiring Volunteers and Cultivating Parent Involvement
Volunteering is one of the most important things you can do for children. Come and
learn effective and innovative strategies for volunteering from representatives of the
Riverside County Office of Education, and the Twenty-Third District PTA Parent
Involvement Team. You will learn how to use the Parents Empowering Parents
manual, and other PTA resources to reach out and make a difference in your school
community.
S05 Promising Practices for English Language Learners
This workshop will present data and strategies from school districts on successful
elementary programs for English Language Learners. The presenters will describe
their programs, the research behind the program designs, and their results. New
research and recommendations for serving secondary English learners will also be
shared.
S12 How To Attract Volunteers
Need we say more? What have you missed? Is this a problem for your PTA? We’ll
give you some food for thought on how to establish, build and empower your
volunteer network.
S53 Including Everyone in the PTA
Are you interested in building a more diverse and inclusive PTA representative of all
the children in your school community? This workshop explores methods you can
use to achieve your aims. You will leave with strategies to increase membership and
diversity within your association’s leadership.
S55 Making Sense: A Parent’s Guide to Middle School Students
A look at the 3 B’s (body, brain and behavior) of young adolescents. Learn why they
are all about appearance; why they are so emotional; and why they willingly take
risks. Learn how to better communicate with them, and what research says is the
best way to help them succeed in school.
S65 Making Diversity Everyone’s Business
Gather ideas for building a diverse PTA while increasing your PTA membership …
beyond the usual suspects! Expand your ideas about who can be members of PTA.
Learn how PTA is relevant for each stakeholder group.
S66 Building Male Leadership in PTA
Men are needed for PTA. Now is the time to move beyond just being a member and
step up into a leadership role. More men are getting involved supporting their
children’s education. This workshop will address, recognize and appreciate
differences in leadership styles, and how to support men as they begin to get
involved in leadership roles.
