T02 Building Community Unity Track Join in a thought-provoking discussion and assessment on creating a rich and diverse PTA. Create true community unity across all cultures. This workshop draws on our own experiences, stereotypes and perceptions. Its purpose is to help create enriched understanding and relationships within PTA and the larger community. T03 Be a Great Treasurer, Parts 1 and 2 Track A An in-depth discussion of financial procedures for all financial officers. Attendees will be guided step by step through an entire financial year. Interpreted in Spanish E T05 T06 Track A B The California State PTA attorney, an IRS tax professional and PTA finance commissioners will discuss legal issues for nonprofit associations, along with the tax filing requirements for all PTAs. This workshop will be interactive and rewarding for any officer. PTA Presidents’ Boot Camp – We Want You! Track A New PTA presidents: Get armed and ready to lead your PTA toward the completion of your mission. Resource materials, structure and support are available to help you meet the responsibilities of your new role as a leader. Learn how to protect and serve every child with one voice. [Offered as a two-part series on Friday and again on Saturday] From Issues to Action – All Politics Are Local! Track A B D Learn from local PTA leaders how to successfully impact issues affecting children and families in your community. This workshop will include guest speakers and hands-on activities, which will provide practical suggestions you can take home and implement. T08 T09 Track A Membership questions answered here! Learn how to prepare and implement a successful yearlong membership campaign, including best practices, sample materials, and use of resources to promote membership. Take away creative methods for sharing the value and benefits of PTA. Hear about California State PTA’s new membership award structure. Parent Involvement: Helping Your Child Achieve Academic Success Track A C D This workshop focuses on the importance of family engagement for student academic success. It will provide participants with information on the various levels of parent/guardian involvement, and how to build strong relationships with children by understanding the Community Learning Theory and Unity Principal.
