Year 8 Netball Team
With a skilful squad of 13, the Year 8 Netball team
has had a very successful season. Training started
in earnest in the Autumn term, in anticipation of the matches
the following term. They played very well and won many
games convincingly. In March it became tournament time,
with the City and County tournaments in consecutive weeks.
In the City tournament, in hurricane conditions, they fought
well, beating Derby High to reach the semi-final. A week
later, with more pleasant weather, despite the team playing
some of the best netball of the season they narrowly missed
out on getting to the semi-finals. In April, the team took
part in a netball tournament in Devon where they showed
some impressive skills, winning 9 out of 10 matches and
drawing the other to reach the semi-finals. More recently,
the team has continued their training with lunchtime
sessions and I am confident that next year the team will go
on to impress me even more. It has been a pleasure to be
the Year 8 coach.
Well done to Lucy Walker, Martha Luke, Alex Nelson, Alex
Sheppard, Rachael Taplin, Amy Reynolds, Megan Patrick,
Georgie O’Hare, Abbie Smith, Amrita Kaur, Charlie Lacey,
Hannah Wagg and Sumanpreet Saini.
