News From the Maths<br />

Department<br />

Over 150 Year 7s and 8s sat the Junior Mathematics Challenge in May.<br />

LCS scored some good results again, with over 60<br />

students achieving Gold, Silver or Bronze awards.<br />

The Gold awards were achieved by the following students:<br />

Young Engineers Exhibition <strong>2008</strong><br />

Congratulations to the Young Engineers team from <strong>Littleover</strong> who<br />

displayed their projects to engineers from Toyota, Headteachers<br />

and many guests at the visitors’ centre at the Toyota plant.<br />

The team members were Matthew Twigg, Alex Suckling, Edward<br />

Gowland, Ben Firth, Jack Crumpton and Lawrence Braines, all<br />

from Year 8.<br />

The guests were very impressed with their projects, which included,<br />

a Robot Arm, Lego Robotic Solutions, a Solar Powered car<br />

and a Ride with a View for visitors to Derbyshire.<br />

All members of the team were a credit to the school and received<br />

a goody bag from Toyota.<br />
