2007 UNION BULLDOG FOOTBALL
957 rushing yards on the season and just 467
passing yards.
The 249 yards in total offense allowed to
Campbellsville was the lowest total Union’s
held an opponent this season.
Scoring edge to Union
Union appears to have a solid scoring
advantage heading into this week’s matchup
against Frostburg State. The Bobcats have
scored just 64 points all season - averaging
10.7 points per game, while Union has scored
91 points in the first half alone - 44 in the first
quarter and 47 in the second. On the season,
Union has tallied 165 total points for a 23.6
point-per-game average.
Campbellsville has just scored a total of 16
first-half points with 7 coming in the first and
9 in the second. The Bobcats have scored 26
points in the third quarter and 22 in the fourth.
Unbalanced scoring attack
Speaking of scoring, a high percentage of
Union’s touchdowns have come through the
air this season. Through the first 7 games,
Union has found the end zone 22 times with 17
coming through the air, 1 on a kick return and
1 on a fumble return. The Bulldogs have just
3 rushing touchdowns with 2 coming in last
week’s 31-14 win over Campbellsville.
RB Terence Pollock (5-9, 214, SO) leads
the team in rushing with 422 yards and had 8
rushing TDs in 2006. However, pounding the
ball into the end zone on the ground has been a
struggle for Union this season.
Meanwhile, Union’s opponents have scored
32 touchdowns - 15 rushing, 11 passing and 6
on interception/fumble returns.
Red-zone effectiveness
Union has been in the red zone 25 times
during the first 7 games of the season, scoring
18 times - a 72.0 scoring percentage. Union’s
opponents have entered the red zone 32 times,
but have scored 23 times - a 71.9 scoring
percentage.
However, Union has only scored 105 points
while its opponents has tallied 151 points. The
difference is that 5 of Union’s red-zone scores
have been field goals with opponents racking
up 21 TDs (2 of the PATs were no good) to go
along with just 2 field goals.
In last week’s 31-14 win, Union went 4 for
5 in the red zone, scoring 3 TDs and 1 FG. The
one failed trip ended with a missed 34-yard FG
attempt. Campbellsville was 1 of 3 in the red
zone, scoring on a 6-yard TD run.
Kelly charging up the receiving list
As a target for Waters, WR Shawn Kelly
(5-8, 175, SR) is on pace to break some singleseason
receiving and career records.
With 43 receptions this season, Kelly now
ranks 3rd on the all-time career receptions list.
To date, he has 110 career receptions for 1,286
yards, a 11.7 yard-per-reception average and 9
TDs. Kelly became the 4th player to amass 100
