a more compact, higher torque capacity model. This becomes<br />

possible through the use of special materials, as well as the<br />

implementation of new procedures and techniques in manufacturing<br />

and the production of individual components.<br />

Fiberglass reinforced high-strength plastic<br />

After the successful introduction of alternative materials such as fiberglass reinforced thermoplastic to precision couplings, it becomes realistic<br />

to offer torque limiters, either partially or entirely out of fiberglass reinforced plastic in the near future. High-strength plastic materials provide the<br />

mechanical designer with additional freedom in the layout of the machine compared to standard materials such as aluminum or steel.<br />
