football, one <strong>of</strong> the most popular <strong>of</strong><br />
all intramural sports. to the campus.<br />

The competitive edge<br />
C<br />
om petition .. .it is the<br />
backbone <strong>of</strong> all sports.<br />
It dominates every<br />
contest from little-league<br />
baseball to pr<strong>of</strong>essional football.<br />
It is the drive to succeed<br />
- the will to win. And the<br />
level <strong>of</strong> this competitive spirit<br />
is <strong>of</strong>ten the force that finally<br />
separates the winners from the<br />
losers. Intramural sports are<br />
no exception to this rule as can<br />
be witnessed by watching any<br />
intramural contest, whether it<br />
be tug-<strong>of</strong>-war, football, or<br />
s<strong>of</strong>tball.<br />
"The competition is at a<br />
high level in intramurals<br />
because you compete against<br />
the people who came out <strong>of</strong><br />
really good high school programs,"<br />
said Bobbi Tatko, a<br />
Cragmont senior and captain<br />
<strong>of</strong> a Hays Hall basketball team.<br />
"They want to keep playing."<br />
And that they do. It is obvious<br />
to any spectator or competitor<br />
involved with intramural<br />
sports that the talent<br />
and competitive nature bred<br />
into so many students in high<br />
school has carried over into<br />
their extra-curricular activities<br />
at <strong>Idaho</strong>. Intramurals are a<br />
great source <strong>of</strong> escape from<br />
studies and an opportunity for<br />
good physical exercise.<br />
This, combined with the<br />
wide variety <strong>of</strong> sports provided,<br />
makes the intramural program<br />
at <strong>Idaho</strong> attractive to<br />
students <strong>of</strong> all interests - and<br />
<strong>of</strong> all levels <strong>of</strong> competition.<br />
