Hector Tovar Award
Hector was a beloved employee with infectious enthusiasm, a big smile, and fabulous “can-do”
attitude. He was truly the spirit of our warehouse crew. Unfortunately, Hector passed away unexpectedly and far
too prematurely at age 37 on September 10, 2000, leaving a widow, Dolores, and two young sons.
A sad day.
We established the Hector Tovar Award to honor Hector and his leadership qualities. It comes from us all,
not from top management. People get behind this: Every employee writes a letter with the reasons for his/
her nomination – why the nominee most embodies Hector’s fine qualities. A lot of effort goes into these
nominations. People are passionate about their choice.
The winner gets his/her name engraved on a large vase which is on permanent display in our lobby.
He or she gets a smaller engraved version.
Hector may be gone, but he lives on with us all. Here is a list of the past winners:
