business of the Company in first<br />

semester. „<strong>Delta</strong> Maxi Group on the<br />

Serbian market realized turnover of 45, 1<br />

billion RSD, which <strong>is</strong> 14% more then in<br />

the same period last year, while in the<br />

countries of the region in which <strong>Delta</strong><br />

operates turnover <strong>is</strong> higher for 20% in<br />

relation to same period last year and it <strong>is</strong><br />

194,6 million euros. Sales shops from our<br />

market chain in Serbia and countries in<br />

New stores and employees<br />

<strong>In</strong> the first six months of 2009, <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi<br />

Group opened 17 new sales stores, 12 in<br />

Serbia and five in the region. Until the end<br />

of the year, retail network of <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi<br />

will be increased for 20 stores more, 12<br />

in Serbia and eight in the region. <strong>In</strong> new<br />

stores 1.300 workers will be employed, thus<br />

until the end of 2009, number of employees<br />

in <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi will ra<strong>is</strong>e to 15.500.<br />

which <strong>is</strong> 10% more then in the same<br />

<strong>In</strong> th<strong>is</strong> period, <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi Serbia records<br />

growth of sales by groups of 13%. <strong>In</strong> the<br />

sales structure, the biggest part of<br />

product groups note growth in relation<br />

to last year, while decrease <strong>is</strong> recorded<br />

only in sales of electronics and textile.<br />

Even in th<strong>is</strong> year, <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi prepared<br />

significant resources for d<strong>is</strong>counts and<br />

action sales, thus in the first six months<br />

we invested 6, 5 million euros in<br />

d<strong>is</strong>counts for more then 6.800 products.<br />

Novelty in the business of <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi on<br />

the Serbian market represents<br />

implementation of new retail format,<br />

d<strong>is</strong>count stores branded as Tempo<br />

Express, in which customers may buy on<br />

the lowest d<strong>is</strong>count prices. Until the end<br />

of 2009, total of ten <strong>su</strong>ch stores on the<br />

territory of Serbia are planned.<br />

<strong>In</strong> accordance with its strategic<br />

designation of social responsible action,<br />

<strong>Delta</strong> Maxi Group in first half of 2009<br />

realized numerous projects of aid to<br />

sanitary institutions and endangered<br />

and marginalized social groups and<br />

carried out several actions in order to<br />

preserve environment. Some of the most<br />

significant project are: Implementation<br />

of bio-degradable bags in all retail stores<br />

in Serbia and region, employment of<br />

d<strong>is</strong>abled persons, collaboration with<br />

association of food Banks, Society for<br />

helping d<strong>is</strong>abled persons and Pediatric<br />

society of Serbia.<br />

<strong>Delta</strong> Maxi became the only holder of Piccadilly<br />

L<br />

eading Serbian company in the retail business <strong>Delta</strong><br />

Maxi has bought the rest 15% of the Bulgarian<br />

Piccadilly and become the only holder of th<strong>is</strong> retail<br />

chain in Bulgaria.<br />

<strong>In</strong> the time of the Global economic cr<strong>is</strong><strong>is</strong> we work upon to<br />

develop retail business in Bulgaria. <strong>In</strong> the next period of time<br />

we will invest in the infrastructure and the quality of customer<br />

services which will show the strong position of Piccadilly as<br />

the best place for grocery shopping in Bulgaria-says Dragan<br />

Filipovic CEO of <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi Group.<br />

<strong>In</strong> 2007 <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi Group have bought an 85% assets of<br />

Piccadilly. Up to now <strong>Delta</strong> Maxi has invested 70 million EUR in<br />

that company, and in future we plan to invest 150 milllion EUR<br />

more.<br />

Our strategy <strong>is</strong> focused towards customer sat<strong>is</strong>faction and<br />

modernization of the retail business in Bulgaria. Althought,<br />

we are sat<strong>is</strong>fied with our re<strong>su</strong>lts in Bulgaria, we activly plan to<br />

become the leaders on Bulgarian market, says Aleksandar<br />

Camparevic Managing Director of Piccadilly.<br />

At the moment Piccadilly holds 15% on Bulgarian retail market.<br />

<strong>In</strong> the first half of 2009 companys’ turnower has increased for<br />

36% in comparesmant to the same period of last year and also<br />

the number of customers has increased for 43%.
