The Black Country UTC is committed to
the principle that every child has
individual needs. Students have an
entitlement to access the full
curriculum offer and be fully included in
all aspects of life at the Black Country
UTC, irrespective of ability, race, gender,
or need and should be respected and
valued as individuals.
The Black Country UTC will address the
needs of different groups of students and
deliver high quality learning and teaching
practices which will allow every student to
achieve their potential. Where required
the Black Country UTC will adapt the
environment and equipment, as much as
is practicably possible, as well as seeking
specialist advice from outside the
organisation to enhance its ability to
support all students.
The Black Country UTC will seek to
remove all barriers to learning and
achievement. The full special educational

Bursaries
A 16-19 means tested bursary is
available to support costs. An
application form is available upon
admission to the Black Country UTC.

The Black Country UTC wishes to
assure parents and carers that it

Students are expected to maintain
the same professional manner
and appearance they would adopt
in industry. The uniform is supplied in the
first instance for year 10 students.
Our dress code has been designed
to help create a modern and successful
business environment.
Year 10/11
• UTC striped tie (boys only)
• Charcoal grey tailored suit
• Choice of charcoal grey trousers or
skirt (girls only)
• UTC and Siemens lapel badge
• White shirt - suitable for use with tie
(boys only)
• White shaped blouse (girls only)
• Plain black footwear
• Plain socks (not brightly coloured)
• Black shower proof coat
In addition for workshop activities
students will wear:
• Overalls
• Safety boots
• Safety goggles
In addition students may wear:
• Black sleeveless sweater
Year 12/13
• Dark coloured two or three piece
business suits (trouser, skirt, dress)
• Business tie
• Collared shirt/tailored blouse
• UTC and Siemens lapel badges
supplied to Year 12, replacements
available for purchase from the UTC
• Dark coloured belt (optional)
• Dark plain v neck jumper
• Plain dark shoes
• Outerwear - plain dark coat or jacket
• Bags - dark coloured and appropriately
sized for carrying books, folders, kit
and other items
The following items are not acceptable:
• Trainers of any colour
• Canvas shoes
• Tracksuits tops
• Hooded tops
• Hats, scarves or gloves once inside the
building
Physical
Education
For PE, students will wear:
• Navy/Cyan PE shirt supplied by Price
and Buckland
• Navy/Cyan shorts/skirt supplied by
Price and Buckland
• Cyan socks supplied by Price and
Buckland
• Blue or black tracksuit bottoms (blue
available for purchase from Price and
Buckland)
• Navy sweatshirt with UTC logo available
for purchase from Price and Buckland
• Suitable trainers for indoor or astro use
(no metal studs or blades)
• Football boots/training shoes
• Shin pads and gum shields must be
worn for hockey
Health &
Safety
To comply with health and safety
regulations and our business standards
students will not be able to wear:
• Make-up or nail polish
• Visible body piercings
• Jewellery - no more than wrist watch,
one plain ring, one pair of small ear
studs (not rings - one in each lobe)
• Fashion belts - belts should be plain
black worn through belt loops (large
buckles are not acceptable)
